I suppose that compared with the 'book', everything else pales into insignificance.   @)(++(*

I always wonder why some people poke fun at the Liverpool accent,   can't think why,  I'm not Liverpudlian  but I should imagine those who are would be quite offended by it.

I think the fun was being poked at the contents of the book rather than the accent of the writer. book is merely a phonetic description of book said in a Liverpool accent. I have a Lancashire accent and say book as in boo with a k added, rather than buk like southern people.

Why type 'book'  it can only be to poke fun at the way it is pronounced.

it is hardly uncommon in human nature for people to take the mick out of others accents.

You do watch comedy shows I presume.

I don't notice anyone mocking other accents only Kate's,   in the way the same people mock how she dresses etc. etc.

Amaral has been mocked repeatedly for his appearance and demeanor.

Let's not start with the insults, please.  There is enough else to discuss.

Anyone mocking his accent,  I believe they call his book a book don't they?

A UK journo who rose above all others in childish insults, did not omit to also mock Mr Amaral's english ("no speak no speak").  But back on topic - a couple of posters here could probably sue the current author for stealing bits of their imaginary theories.

It is possible for a writer to reach bizarre or outlandish conclusions while also having insights that may genuinely be new. Fresh eyes will one day approach this case in a way or ways we all can't see.

I hope the book is genuine and not just someone or some individuals messing about. Genuinely fresh eyes and thoughts would be interesting.

Scotland Yard.

I should stress, I am not particularly blowing the trumpet of Scotland Yard as vastly superior to the PJ, here, much of whose own work (not all!) in the shelved enquiry I am, quite genuinely, in awe of (including, and especially, the work of the GNR dog-handlers who first looked for Madeleine).

But it is a well-established phenomenon of human psyche that when one set of eyes (no matter whose) have been foucussed on an intractable problem for an extended period of time, a fresh set of eyes (again, no matter whose) can look at the same problem and spot something the first examiners simply missed.

The phenomenon is well established and recognised in domestic, UK, policing where officers of one force have failed to crack a crime and officers of a different force will be asked to re-examine the same crime (with fresh eyes).

Good points. A theory which is generally wrong may contain a small useful nugget of insight. And fresh eyes are very good - SY now have fresh eyes.

How long have they had fresh eyes for now ?

i.e. Since the 'investigation' was opened.

4 years. I only first looked at this case 2 years ago and went straight to the statements in the files - Oct 2013.
Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

Since the new SIO (NW) took over.
