Official Find Madeleine Campaign OMG Sarah, just when I was about to walk away and stop the social media pages, you write this. Thank you! It's been absolutely awful. Being lied about in the press and vilified for doing the right thing--I have a very small taste of what Gerry and Kate have been through. I've been on the verge of tears and wanting to throw-up. I'm so stressed from this and the last thing I want to do is cause harm to the search for Madeleine. I love Gerry and Kate too much to hurt them. I'm often questioning myself, but know I have to stand up and not let people abuse us online. I have a lot of thinking to do over the next few days, but thank you for the note of encouragement. ~FM Webmaster

It would seem that the McCanns have blocked many people who were only pointing out the obvious while others were asking some pretty mild questions but as you stated earlier Alfred, that is their prerogative.  The support they once had is slowly but surely eroding, I notice many people who originally contributed to the Madeleine Fund posting comments on various social media to the extent that they now regret having done so.  That cannot be good news for them surely?

Who lot? The drama was caused by OFM staff, no-one else. They attacked the wrong person and it made the news. What an own goal!

It would seem that the McCanns have blocked many people who were only pointing out the obvious while others were asking some pretty mild questions but as you stated earlier Alfred, that is their prerogative.  The support they once had is slowly but surely eroding, I notice many people who originally contributed to the Madeleine Fund posting comments on various social media to the extent that they now regret having done so.  That cannot be good news for them surely?

Do you have any actual evidence to back up your statement that support for the McCanns is slowly but surely eroding?  People can say any old rubbish in social media, like I could pretend to have donated to the Amaral Fund and now claim to be dismayed with the way it is being managed.  Some actual hard data to back up your belief would be good.  For example, how about monitoring the number of people who follow the OFM page on FB or the twitter account?  Are people leaving these pages in droves?

It was a story to be read and well done to FL to bringing the toy/pram chucking episode to our attention  and not a NON EVENT...IE, an ambassador for Missing People (and/or her rep) blocks an entire Twitter hashtag on the search for a missing person? because she/they don't like some of the followers??Get real!!!

a further 600 people have liked that post on Fb since 6pm this evening, bringing the total to over 13k.  Supportive messages well over 2000 now.  Support for the McCanns has never been stronger by the looks of it.

It's quite obvious that with the passage of time fewer and fewer people will remain as interested in this case as they used to be.     I don't believe it's because their views have changed.   It's just a fact of life. 

The only posts I have read elsewhere by people expressing regret that they once supported  the McCanns are on sceptic sites and IMO are folk who have been taken in by the lies, myths and disinformation which still abound on those sites - where, unlike our Forum, no-one is allowed to challenge them - and so they remain misinformed.
