Anyone who gives threats, violent or otherwise is to be condemned.

Did OFM release a press statement that they were blocking that account or did they quietly block it and it was only when OFB kicked off about it that it became an issue?

Why block it at all and, if the problem still existed, why then unblock it ?

The only people who should feel embarrassed IMO are those who rushed to turn this into yet another stick to beat the McCanns with - and in their indecent haste appear to have completely forgotten it is poisonous TROLLS who are responsible.   First for causing Sarah Payne to close her account and now the McCanns.   It is that which  should be being condemned IMO.

Then all I can say is well done to Kerry Needham who, although suffering abuse from supporters of the McCanns, has put her feelings to one side, ignored the bile and put the search for her son first.

They have already given the reasons why they blocked it - they then bowed to pressure once the trolls had succeeded in whipping up a storm in a teacup over it, which is understandable and that's why they unblocked it.  You must know in your heart of hearts (if you actually have one) that this ridiculous farce is the work of mischievous "sceptics" on twitter, intent on causing as much upset as possible to the McCanns and their supporters, though I very much doubt you'd ever admit it.

I did not say Misty was disgusting but her comment is hard to read and Dave not everyone is attacking the McCanns. It's just sick to suggest that Kerry should be grateful to the McCanns when you look at the discrepancy in the help the respective families have received and the length of time Ben has been missing. It's simply not fair and finally although the parents of these missing children should get great sympathy its primarily about the children who have been abducted. Is Madeleine's life more valuable then Bens?

One child's life is as valuable as another's and as far as the two individual families concerned in this totally fabricated spat it is absolutely shameful that there are those who deliberately set out to cause friction and dissent between them.

It takes a very extraordinary mindset indeed to employ the support between the two as a weapon by posting hate and bile about one family on the account of the other ... in the full knowledge that there is nothing the target of their opprobrium can do about publishing and forwarding rants ... designed to damage the very campaign they are trying to promote on behalf of their daughter and others, including Ben Needham.

Let us look at this from another viewpoint.

If Madeleine McCann's account had included hate messages posted concerning Ben Needham and his family ... what would have been the response if the web master had not blocked those 'wellwishers' who apparently have made their appearance in the past three weeks and instead allowed their inimitably hostile comments to be forwarded to Kerry Needham's account and then forwarded on to others?

I am finding it very hard to believe that any genuine McCann Supporter would abuse Kerry Needham.  It just doesn't make sense.

In the past couple of weeks, there has been a concerted effort to get people to stop looking for Madeleine. Some argue the search costs too much, others say it's hopeless.

I, and I alone, have made the decision to block ANYONE who thwarts the search for Madeleine via social media--whether that be with running commentary on the investigation, posting negative comments about the search/investigation/cost, or saying Madeleine is a lost cause.

I could say plenty. It is totally unacceptable for anyone to direct abuse at the parents of missing children, whether the children went missing because someone wasn't watching them properly, left of their own accord or they were abducted. Some people are just vile & will use any opportunity to put the boot into anyone already suffering.
Kerry has endured more than half her life under a terrible black cloud, the likes of which no-one should have to but so many do.
Maybe this episode will be a wake-up call to some to think about cyber-gang culture & its effect on society, but  others just don't have hearts or consciences, do they?
