I don't see ANY questions on that list that she would have difficulty in answering honestly -  including the three I quoted.

However, IMO once she did answer -  the PJ could put any interpretation they liked on her answers - or even just say they didn't believe her.   Maybe it would even have ended in her arrest?  Who knows.

Fortunately she took her Portuguese lawyer's advice and so removed that possibility.

An honest person answers questions honestly. It really is as simple as that.

And it would be a very stupid person who thinks they know better than their lawyer and ignores his advice in such serious circumstances.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

I'm not surprised you'd be upset, sense of humour failure? I'm so glad the police accept so many discrepancies in statements. Makes one wonder why they take them. Perhaps Kate McCann just 'thought' she'd seen an open window and shutters? You know, like those people who saw someone vaulting a ticket barrier? Perhaps the person seen by Jane Tanner was actually going from right to left, which would fit with the creche dad idea? Some people do confuse left and right. Perhaps they guessed at the checking times, after all, they weren't doing it by the clock. They may even have mistaken the time of the alarm, having no interest in time? Perhaps we should disregard everything they ever said.

Nothing wrong with my sense of humour.   I'm still smiling at the idea that anyone opening a newspaper and seeing their reputation trashed for all to see  - would think it was hilarious and have a good laugh about it.

IMO The PJ weren't after Gerry - it was Kate's questions they needed replies to - so that they could come up with a motive to pin on her.    I'm sure her Portuguese lawyer was aware of that - especially if he was au fait with the Cipriano case.

The truly innocent can afford to laugh at (to use a popular word) 'ludicrous' smears.

No comment on the other possible 'memory failures'? After all, if their memories were as faulty as the supporters suggest we can't believe anything they said. How can they complain about alternative points of view? They can't remember what happened apparently.

the police understand why they take statements and understand the limitations of the statements..as I do....that's why important statements are audiotaped....

So we don't have to believe the window and shutters were open; it could have been a faulty memory due to shock and terror. Glad we cleared that up.

. I didn't say any of that
All statements were available to SY when it was stated the McCanns were not suspects
That would indicate they had no concerns with them

Why do you keep saying that her lawyer told her not to answer the questions? You don't know what he said to her. I believe that Kate and Gerry decided that only one of them would answer questions so that the police would not be able to note any discrepancies in their replies.

You are entitled to believe what you wish to believe, G, but, do you think that Amy’s memory was faulty and affected by shock as well?……..

I am sure that you have already seen this, unless of course your memory has failed you too?

Excerpt of Amy T statement:-
She confirms that, on the night of the disappearance she was on duty and immediately went to the bedroom to see if the girl was hiding. She saw that the shutter was raised and that the window was partially open. It was then that she began to look in the wardrobes to see if the girl was hiding.

The first idea that occurred to her was that the girl could have left by her own means, however after checking that the window was open and the shutter raised she asked the parents whether Madeleine’s shoes were there, to which they replied that they were, these facts led her to think that Madeleine could have been taken by someone.

Amazing how the police didn't but Amy did. How could she see the shutters raised when Dianne couldn't raise them straight after the alarm? They raised a little, twisted and got jammed so Amy's testimony of seeing them raised is not credible.
Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

It does not mean they checked.

Well one of them said 'that I now understand they were checking the children'.
