Yet they thought writing  their time lines on scraps of paper more important than looking for Madeleine.

Likewise, no independent verification they checked when they said they did.

Not just scraps of paper, Madeleine's book. I found that quite shocking actually.

I don't see it that way...it was important to note every possible detail anyone could remember...absolutely the right thing to do

Any idea how they got their hands on it?

I'm sure one of the rogatory statements says the T7 started on the time line while the McCanns were dealing with the police.

IF this is correct, then why is it Madeleine's book, rather than a book belonging to the children of the T7?

Any clarification would be welcomed.
What's up, old man?

Yes, I did too. The thing is, the police would have asked them what times - who was - where,  they didn't need to write it down. Did they? No they didn't.  This was the first thing what made me wonder why they couldn't just tell the police via an interpreter. Happens all over the world.

You know this.......How?

I said "I believe" and my opinion is based on logic because answering those 48 questions for an innocent person would not have been a problem at all.

thats where your logic falls apart...you assume an innocent person would answer the questions...that simply isn't true

Quite so Misty - hindsight is indeed a wonderful thlng.     So soon after Madeleine's disappearance  - they would still have very high hopes that she would be found at any moment - so the book would have no 'sentimental' significance after such a short time.

They immediately handed the written timeline to the police who were with them at the time.  It could even be that the police asked them to write it down?

Extract from Russell O'Brien's rogatory interview:

'But anyway Dave Payne said to, errm... there were two members of the PJ had arrived, there was a guy I remember being almost shaved bald head, quite dark complexion, and a second one who we kind of nicknamed 'baby face', who did our fingerprinting about a week later, errm... and those two were there and Dave was... was saying, you know, 'Shouldn't we', you know, 'Why are we sitting here, shouldn't you be on the radio, shouldn't there be more people here, shouldn't there be...', you know, 'this should be on the radio, it should be on the television' and, errm... I recall 'baby face', or his colleague, saying 'No media', and, you know... and that was full-stop and then turning round to me writing the timeline and saying  'That's what we want', fair enough. Errm... huh, and that's really it.
End quote

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

Vandalised is a very emotive word in this context.  Are you sure it is the right one?  Or is the blatant example of your contempt for the McCanns and their friends and your inability to put yourself in their position?

The mccanns are responsible for the position they placed themselves in.

Just like the mccanns, you play the blame game and try to make others sympathetic for what the mccanns did to themselves.

Kate knew immediately she'd been taken. Was she expecting the abductor to come back with her?

I'm very sympathetic towards the mccanns an in my experience there are many others who feel the same
