The trouble with that statement is that for the Drs McCann to have been 'tested in court' there had to be evidence to allow them to be taken to court in the first instance.

That is the usual requirement of law in a democratic state.

After investigation the State of Portugal chose not to prosecute them ... you know better?

You are quite right, of course.

But you will never get Stephen to understand that there must be evidence to take someone to court before that step is even considered ....

And a person can also be guilty even without that evidence.

Am I allowed to ask you to be more specific about what 'simply wasn't true?' and why you would think that?  Or would that be perceived as my 'encouraging libel'?

Encouraging other members to speculate on the honesty of any individual is a breach of our rules Benice.  There are other ways of asking questions without falling foul of the rules.

When I say I don't know, that is a factual statement. You also don't know. As neither of us know we are both free to make whatever observations and insinuations we wish, and we do.

The difference is that you then start posting personal accusations at me. I am unable to feel empathy. I am making myself look foolish. I am unpleasant. I am insensitive to criticism, in fact I relish it.
Well at least you admit all these things which is something I suppose.

Which is worse -

1) parents are charged and found guilty of hiding their child's body but attracted little or no previous online chatter casting casting suspicion on them.

2) parents endure years of online aspersions cast on their integrity and honesty but are eventually found not to have had any part in their child's disappearance

They cannot claim to be whiter than white when it came to telling lies. As an example they did make stuff up according to Kate when they lied to the press as to where they were going on one particular day.
Liars come in all shapes and sizes. No profession is without them.

yawn.  Liars with something serious to hide tend not to own up to their lies in best-selling books, but do carry on birsmirching their characters if it makes you happy.

It just goes to prove that they were not incapable of lying when the need arose but then most people are.

However some liars wrap their lies in a smidgen of truth to make them harder to identify.

And then admitted it.  Very odd.  Some big secret.

The biggest lie in my book was the fund which was created (according to the parents) to look for Madeleine and then used to gag their critics.  Then there was the promise of transparency where the fund was concerned which ended up more opaque than transparent.

so are you, a moderator of this forum, stating as fact that the McCanns are liars?
