Which one?

Madeleine's concealed remains on the beach?

Madeleine driven dead to Huelva, Spain?

Or (more latterly) Madeleine's body slipped into the coffin of a dead woman just before cremation?

IMO you could add his other 'opinion' that  Madeleine's parents concealed her body in a fridge to that list.
The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

Yes.

Harrison said he had no clue what happened to Madeleine.

And neither do you, Amaral or anyone else for that matter.  Only the perp if there was one knows the answer to that particular riddle so your constant claims that Amaral is wrong are baseless.

For what its worth Amaral was best placed to understand the entire event so for him to get it entirely wrong is not logical. There must be some truth in what he uncovered given he was able to shake up Kate McCann to such an extent she refused to answer some pretty mild questions.  Little did she know then that her refusal would later be made public in the way it was, that must have been embarrassing!!

Amaral is wrong to state his opinion as fact....

Amaral is wrong to state his opinion as fact....

Only if its untrue.  Ferryman harps on about Amaral misquoting Harrison and accuses him of failing to understand his results.  Amaral's job was to come to his own conclusion, Harrison was but one of many tools!

Not if he genuinely believes it.  I can say that there are no human lifeforms on Mars.  It is my opinion and a fact.  It is also TRUE in terms of my own belief!

Prior might have been another.

Did he really ring the FSS to berate them on the PJ's powers of arrest?

It has to be proven to be the truth.

Just as the abduction theory has still to be proven.

Just as the abduction theory has still to be proven.

I think this is one reason why this case intrigues so much in that there are simply so many possibilities even now some eight years on.

As far as the OP is concerned, it is a policeman's job to weigh up all the evidence and make a judgement call based on that and not on sentiment.  One thing is for sure, right or wrong Amaral was his own man.

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.
