Thank you all for the replies. Although it's often said that the parents have been 'ruled out', not one person has suggested how that could have been done. I have to assume therefore that none of you can point to any evidence which could have been used to rule the parents out.
All I have seen offered is no evidence of guilt. There is no evidence of abduction either. Talking of 'watchers' and 'windows of opportunity' and mentioning other crimes in the area is not evidence.
There has been no credible evidence to 'rule the parents in' so it baffles me how they can be 'ruled out'. I take the seemingly old fashioned approach of presumption of innocence. Which is the only possible approach in a civilised society
You may be be comfortable accusing Madeleine's parents of various levels of criminal activity on the basis if tabloid gossip and a pot boiler written to make cash for a failed investigator but I am not.
I have been around for long enough to 'never say never' so if you or any other sceptic can come up with a credible scenario where 'the McCanns dun it' then I may change my position. But so far nobody has.
