It's contradictory, you are not really trying to thrill seek if you plan something to avoid being caught.

The police analyse crime types, they are aware of organised vs. chaotic crimes where a child might be taken by a predator on a whim. They will know how these cases will differ in terms of what evidence should be there. It's goes along with logic and evidence to try and work out the possibilities.  An organised criminal will plan not to be caught, a disorganised criminal would not and may panic but would be likely to leave evidence as not everything was planned.

How a disorganised 'whim' child snatcher would hide a body or child so well is anyone's guess.  Someone who planned would be more likely to get away with it.

One of the reasons to do a reconstruction is to work out what kind of criminal you are dealing with in terms of organisation and pre-planning.
And yet some people seem to think the McCanns managed it with the minimum amount of pre-planning, and in a foreign country, without immediate easy access to a car, shovels, freezers, wood chippers, coffins, you name it.

I f Maddie was abducted as I believe she almost certainly was... Then we have no idea exactly why... Its impossible to say... Could be organised... Disorganised or anything in between

A belief is one thing Dave, proof is something else.
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.

We have no idea what amount of planning was involved for who-ever managed to 'vanish' this child.

The complete concealment of a child or child's body would indicate planning, a very difficult thing to do in the time line suggested it would seem.

The perpetrator would need to know where they are and have a way of getting to them. - plans in other words if the wells were part of the equation.

In an opportunist abduction, any element of planning to conceal a body would come after the initial crime. The longer the perpetrator remains unknown, the greater length of time for planning.

The McCann apartment was vulnerable and overlooked from the front from the side and very possibly from the rear.
Recent photographs show that in recognition of that vulnerability spotlights have been installed and security grilles on the windows and the side gate which has been modified.

The apartment was a fixture and easily observed.

The inhabitants were transient.

Perhaps a plan of long standing was set in motion when an appropriate child appeared on the scene.

In my opinion the only miscalculation was that the reaction to her loss activated the parents of the child to do what very few, if any other parents in that situation could have or would have been capable of doing.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

So all the more reason to think it was a local who ran her over then carried her off.  Sadie's theories on the other hand have nothing to support them imo.

Stealing a child from a poor family would have been a better option, ever considered that?

There were more checks going on that night than any other. Only the village idiot would attempt it with 3 children in one room with regular checks going on in and around that apartment.
Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

That is about right.  I'd say if she was hidden in a well it was a local person.
