Agreed Lace, nothing is as sad as thinking about what happened to April and Madeleine and little Sarah Payne but none of their parents deserve the abuse they have received.
It must increase the guilt and pain they feel.

i doubt it were k mcc is concerned ....she has too much to be thankful for...

.remember g mcc saying ...it could have been worse ..they could have took the twins as well

could be with you the lights are on but no one is home....you said in your post

but it is MUCH worse for the parents of the child isn't it,   it is what they have to live with every day

so what does maddie live with then ....after all you think maddie was abducted.....but findable

your post seems to indicate ....maddie is not suffering ...because she is no longer with us

If you read what you had said in your previous post and my reply to it,  you would realise that I meant much worse for the parents of the child than for you and I,  not that it was much worse for them than Madeleine.

Get it now?

You really cannot comprehend that everyone has complete sadness about Madeleine but that some of us can extend our sadness to her parents and indeed her whole family.
Because we have sadness and sympathy for the families of all these children does not lessen the sadness and sympathy for the children. Indeed I cannot bear dwelling on the suffering these children will have endured

Sorry for posting this incorrectly.

Sorry.  I can't see how to, although I did try.

You seem to have commented before the "Quote".

But we all got what you meant.

No nothing IS as sad and heart breaking as that I agree,   all the more reason why I think the McCann's shouldn't be getting the abuse they get for a decision they can't make right.    You feel it sad and heart breaking so do we all,  but it is MUCH worse for the parents of the child isn't it,   it is what they have to live with every day.

I am coming to the conclusion that irrespective of the circumstance of Madeleine's disappearance it really doesn't have a great deal to do with the circumstances of the vitriolic campaigns against her parents.

Almost nine years is an awesome amount of time to have expended on hating people you don't know, have never met and whose only 'crime' is that they dined out in a restaurant less than two minutes away from where they had left their children sleeping.

I am coming round to thinking that isn't actually what gets up these people's noses.  I think the accusations and allegations of neglect are ...
(a)  all they can find to accuse them of while excusing an abductor
(b)  a convenient nail on which to hang their coat of irrational spite which has another cause entirely

The only thing I can think of which this couple have done is directing their energy and drive in generating a campaign which has made their missing daughter's name unforgettable.

It is only due to their endeavour and hard work that Madeleine's case has been reopened and after almost nine years there is a chance to recover her or find out what happened to her.
At the least, comfort can be taken that all that can be done is being done which was not quite the case initially.  A sad fact recognised by the Portuguese authorities themselves.

The 'unpopularity' generated by a petty minded vociferous few in their objection to a small award being given to two women in recognition of the work they have done and continue to do on behalf of others ... is something which has come to be expected.

The problem lies not with these bereaved mothers ... but with those who glad hand each other with spiteful comments with which those of us who tread the McCann boards have become tiresomely familiar, but not really the normal folks out there they hope to 'educate'.  Sadly they gain satisfaction that a comments section in a tabloid printed their bilious spite ... if that is the epitome of what they think is success ... sad, sad people indeed.

In your opinion.....

Hardly surprising.

In my opinion and I am not alone on that, you are here to defend the mccann's.

'A vociferous few'. When an already very unpopular woman gets almost 18,000 members of the general public agreeing with her it certainly gives a flavour of the country's views on the subject and can hardly be considered 'a vociferous few', expect of course by those who really and truly can't see the wood for the trees.

The intention is to cause harm.  As if these women have not suffered enough harm as it is.  However, I find it interesting that as a result of the horrendous circumstances of their lives - all three are campaigners and have shown themselves by dint of that to be very strong women indeed.

Is that sufficient to attract the opprobrium they have?

There are no hate campaigns that I know of singling out the two known and one unknown abductor of these little girls.

Yet all three mothers have been targeted?

I wouldn't wait for 'evidence' that my unpopularity was harming the causes I cared about, I would bow out of the public role and help by taking on a low profile role.
@)(++(* So no evidence at all that Kate is harming the charity.  I would go so far as to say the reverse is true, as by lending her name to tne charity ( like her or loathe her) she has helped raise its profile immeasurably.  Do you really think it would have got quite so much publicity without her involvement?  Remember, all publicity is good publicity!
