Interestingly, the paper has gone for the spelling, Wynard, rather than Winyard

And it was Stephen Winyard, not Wynard, who offered the reward for Madeleine:

A businessman explained yesterday why he had offered a reward of £1 million to anyone who can provide information that leads to Madeleine's safe return.
Stephen Winyard, the owner of a Scottish health spa called Stobo Castle, said he decided to come forward after seeing photographs of the missing toddler's distraught parents.
Mr Winyard, a 57-year-old father-of-three who lives in Monaco, said: "When I saw their faces, I felt frustrated that no one else had yet come forward offering a substantial reward, and so felt compelled to do so myself."
The proposal has reportedly been passed on to the McCann family in Praia da Luz, but it is unclear whether Portugal's laws will allow the offer to be put to the public.
Mr Winyard's family took over the derelict Stobo Castle in 1975, when it had no electricity or running water.

you mean I could have gatecrashed a Missing People event to give an award to yourself for services to McCann bashing if I paid for the award, and they would have had no say on the matter?!

I think it was a crown laden with diamonds and rubies that Kate and Coral have to take turns wearing (Kate Monday, Wednesdays & Fridays, Coral Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and it goes in for a clean and polish Sundays) - but don't quote me on that.

The local event was hosted by Stobo owner Stephen Winyard who is also a patron of the Child Rescue Alert system which is managed by the charity.

The Child Rescue Alert system, which is a partnership between CEOP, a command of the National Crime Agency, the charity Missing People and Groupcall, offers vital, rapid public outreach when a child is known to have been abducted or their life is believed to be at immediate risk.
