Groundhog day on the Madeleine Board
« on: April 03, 2016, 11:39:02 PM »
Can we all get to the bottom of this?

Why does it happen?

We have a discussion and then next week, have the same one, months later the same one agan, and years later, again with no resolution hardly ever to even the tiniest of details

Truly bizarre

There must be a reason and a person here who knows it and perhaps the answer

We do seem to discover more and more each time this happens.  Small things hidden away and previously unnoticed.  So while I used to find this boring, I no longer do.
The biggest problem seems to be that this usually happens when going Off Topic, but The Mods do spot why and when something might be useful, and then John picks out the good stuff and starts a new Thread.

But then there is a bit more to this Modding lark than might first appear.  So, carry on, say I.

Because Punxsutawney Phil swam across the pond and decided this place would be as good as any to squat.  It's John's secret weapon... he's just binding his time before Phil's pic is incorporated in the banner.
It's one of them cases, in'it... one of them f*ckin' cases.

I think it's because we have different opinions on the forum, rather than posters being in broad agreement. Discussions don't end in agreement, they just peter out. That's why they get resurrected over and over. I agree with Eleanor in that new information often surfaces because, given the diverse opinions here, people put a lot of effort into their research.
Read and abide by the forum rules.
Result = happy posting.

People do, indeed.  Quite remarkable.  Things I've never heard before are still coming out.

Thanks to Myster I've now heard of Punxsutawney Phil

Sources have long presented conflicting information on the groundhog’s accuracy.

Phil’s official website claims he has “of course” issued a correct forecast 100 percent of the time. But NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information notes that Phil’s forecasts have shown “no predictive skill” in recent years.

AccuWeather finds the rodent has an 80 percent accuracy rate. But the StormFax Almanac reports that Phil has been right a lowly 39 percent of the time.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Are we to assume that Phil is making things up?  Does he never ever produce Cites?

Think it is something to do with interpretation of the length of his shadow or if he is casting one.  All very scientific, of course.

It's really very simple mercury.  Members get involved at different times according to their own circumstances.  For anyone who reads the boards every day it can look like Groundhog Day at times but no two discussions are ever the same.  I am amazed sometimes when members come up with novel thoughts on various topics which I had thought had been previously done to death.

We have some very intelligent posters on this forum who have brought a wealth of information to the boards and for this I applaud them!   8@??)(

I am also willing to wager that we have more data on this forum about the Maddie case than even SY.

This is a ludicrous statement to make.  Sorry, but it had to be said.  Surely we are all in agreement that there is a wealth of data about this case, especially that gathered during Operation grange of which we have no knowledge whatsoever?

Ok I am convinced new things come out from gdog day discussion, I was talking more about people stating facts and others disputing them...a fact is a fact....it should not be open to interpretation or embroidered to suit because of bias, propaganda or simple misunderstanding...then there Re those stating things as facts when they are anything but...

Because there is a wrong assumption in the way police have written the problem Mercury.
The way the problem is phrased, it is impossible to solve.
It's like an exam question with a serious typo in it.
