I don't make accusations.

I just state facts.

CITE your 'facts'.

The McCanns were accused of murder.

Unless you want to accuse Kate of lying.

Did Kate claim in her book that they were accused of murder?
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

I don't believe a lot of what she says- she believes in her own PR, and what makes you believe her, were you there?

Kate described the 'deal' put to them: Kate admits to finding and hiding "a body" and gets a couple of years, while Gerry is let off; OR the pair face murder charges.

Mark Harrison was briefed to investigate exclusively murder (despite Amaral claiming that no one talked about murder).

In considering the two scenarios that Madeleine McCann has been murdered and her body disposed of by a person on foot or in a vehicle, I have reflected on the areas within zone 1 that have been previously searched or subject to forensic examination.

Mark Harrison.

This report considers solely the possibility that Madeleine McCann has been murdered and her body is concealed within the areas previously searched by Police in Zone 1 around Praia Da Luz. Other scenarios or possibilities may on request be considered and be subject of a further report. I also make comment on the recent claims made by a Mr Krugel as to the whereabouts of the missing child.

Mark Harrison.

Meanwhile, this, from the El Mundo Interview (Amaral)

Quote
Q - What do you think could have happened that night?

A - Both the British and Portuguese police, and even the prosecutor, who has already changed his mind, thought the same. We talked about death by others, not murder. In the room, blood and cadaver odour was found just below a window where a sofa was. The father was talking to a friend just outside that window for a while. The girl was not a heavy sleeper, that's what the parents said. Perhaps she heard her father and climbed to the sofa below the window. But the parents, for the girl not to go out, moved it away from the wall. Madeleine could have fallen.

Note, further, that Amaral talks freely about 'cadaver odour' when both Grime and Harrison say no incriminating inference can be drawn from the reactions of the dogs.

Did Kate claim in her book that they were accused of murder?

Nope.

Here are some bits and pieces for bedtime reading

Kate tells of nightmare Daily Mirror

Lori Campbell In Praia Da Luz
09/09/2007

Shell-shocked Kate McCann has given a dramatic, impassioned interview to the Sunday Mirror to denounce claims that she killed her own daughter.

Breaking down in tears, distraught Kate said of the Portuguese police: "They want me to lie - I'm being framed.

"Police don't want a murder in Portugal and all the publicity about them not having paedophile laws here, so they're blaming us."

Kate was speaking on Friday morning - after her first police interrogation this week, but before police officially classed her a suspect in her daughter Madeleine's disappearance.

And she addressed head-on the extraordinary allegation that she accidentally killed Madeleine, then hid the body and engaged in a monumental cover-up to pretend she had been abducted.

Furious at the astounding claims, Kate, 39, said of the police: "They are basically saying, 'If you confess Madeleine had an accident, and that I panicked and hid the body in a bag for a month then got rid of it in a hire car, I'd get two or three years' suspended sentence.'

From Madeleine,ch 16

The only conclusion I could draw was that we’d been framed, though this seemed completely implausible. Faced with something like this, way beyond the sphere of your experience, it is natural to dismiss it as impossible, but that doesn’t mean it is. When I thought about all that had happened so far, maybe anything was possible. In any event, it seemed we’d underestimated the magnitude of the fight we had on our hands. Even our own lawyer appeared to think, based on what he’d been told, that the police had a good case against us. I could see by this time that Gerry was starting to crack.

Then came the best bit. Carlos announced what the police had proposed. If we, or rather I, admitted that Madeleine had died in an accident in the apartment, and confessed to having hidden and disposed of her body, the sentence I’d receive would be much more lenient: only two years, he said, as opposed to what I’d be looking at if I ended up being charged with homicide.

Pardon? I really wasn’t sure if I could possibly have heard him correctly. My incredulity turned to rage. How dare they suggest I lie? How dare they expect me to live with such a charge against my name? And even more importantly, did they really expect me to confess to a crime they had made up, to falsely claim to the whole world that my daughter was dead, when the result would be that the whole world stopped looking for her? This police tactic might have worked successfully in the past but it certainly wasn’t going to work with me. Over my dead body. ‘You need to think about it,’ Carlos insisted. ‘It would only be one of you. Gerry could go back to work.’

I was speechless.

The incentive to accept this ‘offer’ seemed to be that if we didn’t agree to it, the authorities could or would go after us for murder, and if we were found guilty, we might both receive life sentences. Was this what it came down to? Confess to this lesser charge or risk something much worse?

The second came before the first. There was, as Harrison agreed with the PJ, a need to move on to this possiblity , the PJ had left it too late. And Amaral talked abut murder by others, stop repeating falsehoods. And NO, again, twisting the truth, no one said to them they WOULD face murder charges. KM in her book alleges "could OR would". Which was it?Sheesh.

I take sister mccann's comments with a pinch of salt.

However, aren't 'deals'  not allowed under Portuguese law ?

Has kate mccann ever verified her claims ?

Harrison formed no (hard and fast) conclusions of his own.

Read the penultimate sentence of his third, and final, report.

He was handed a brief by the PJ (by Amaral's boss, whose name began with E, now dead, RIP) to investigate that Madeleine had been murdered.

He (Harrison) offered to explore other possibilities or scenarios (sic) on request.

There is no evidence he was (requested) to do so.

I was making the point that they all talked about an accident, from KM to PM ro the PJ report to GA, only person who mentioned murder was KM as a police blackmail tactic if shes relaying it correctly,...yes, no deals, read thelink I gave at the end, under the header deal or no deal

And of course no one has verified the claims, maybe ferryman has a cite for verification

deals arent allowed...neither is beating  suspects up but they have done that...to suggest this could not have happened because it is against the rules is ridiculous...has amaral ever denied it...has kates lawyer denied it...no
