Once you realise the police investigators are trying to pin the crime on yourselves, and you know you are innocent - how would you regard them then - if not 'the enemy'?
It's a pity the AG does not explain how a recon would in any way have enabled the McCanns to establish/demonstrate their innocence. Can anyone explain how the McCanns repeating their movements of 12 months prior would make any difference to anything? It's a mystery to me.
All an attempted recon would prove is that it is not humanly possible for 10 people ( who only remember approximate times of their movements of 12 months prior) - to recreate those movements with the amount of accuracy that would be vital for the exercise to prove anything whatsoever.
For example (remembering that the were all only going to get one 'go' at it)
PJ to Jez: We want you to set out at the same time you did on the night of the 3rd when you met Gerry.
Jez to PJ: But I don't know what time it was - I can have a guess at it - but what if I 'm wrong and Gerry is just going into 5a when I turn into the street? What do I do then?
PJ to Jez..........................................erm.

Considering G McCann couldn't even remember which side of the road he and Jez stood yacking. But then he was distracted or not by Miss Clipity Dipity who was just about to spoil what appeared to be the abduction of the century.
Out of interest does anyone really believe than a would be abductor could open the bedroom shutter and window, climb into the room, select a child to abduct and carry her out through the front door, along the walkway, through the car park only to encounter Jane Tanner when Gerry had just left a sleeping Maddie in a secure apartment only two minutes earlier? A child who never uttered a sound?? I know the moon is made of cheese but...
