I don't recall any statements from any of the other tour operator's guests. I have often wondered if the Tapas complex was exclusive to Mark Warner. I think the childcare facilities were, as were the tennis coaches.

An August 2007 Thomas Cook holidaymaker remarks on using the Tapas bar.

IIRC MW had an allocation of 20 covers per night in the Tapas Bar and it was also open to the public if there were any unoccupied tables.

I couldn't see the review mentioned. It does seem strange there were no statements taken, even from those recorded as being there on 3rd.

Scroll to the part which says 192 reviews, then click on the link which says "read reviews that mention" : Thomas Cook; the 4th one down from Ang&Graham.

Found it now thanks. I wonder if there were 'Thomas Cook' tables too? They are conspicuous by their absence in the files.

When we visited in 2010 there was no problem about our having a meal at the tapas restaurant.  No problem paying as outsiders.   However the resort seemed very quiet.   We were able to wander around the garden area unhindered.

I should add:  There was no receptionist at the Tapas Reception.  It felt as tho had there been one we would still have been allowed in, so long as we were eating there.  As far as the waiters were concerned it seemed the norm for outsider to eat there (if there were empty tables)

It was quiet when the T9 were there too. I wonder why there was all that fuss about booking tables etc? I think the receptionist said in her statement that she finished about 7pm.

Jez and Bridget complained that the T9 had a block booking.  Somehow it affected the general fairness of the resort if one lot got preference.

I think it was McKenzie who said he couldn't get a table on 3rd, his wife went for a carry-out. Times had certainly changed by the time Sadie got there.

Yet the booking sheet for the 3rd didn't look that busy.

All the booking sheets exceeded the 20 covers mentioned above, however.

So that 20 applies to the whole night OK I'll have to reassess my view on how busy they were.

I do wonder since this article came out whether Scotland Yard have managed to trace these people

It went very quiet about that line of inquiry.  Perhaps they were traced and eliminated.

I believe that two Scots murderers and paedophiles who were also checked out, were running a cleaning business and may have been in the Algarve at the time Madeleine disappeared (they may have refused to speak to SY, if memory serves me well).

I think the police were carrying out due diligence.
Checking out people who might have been overlooked at the time as well as other names which have since come up.
A monumental task whichever way it is viewed.

He said it was “perfectly probable” that information that could identify the suspect or suspects responsible for Madeleine’s disappearance was in the police files.

He added: “We have to ask ourselves why are cases unsolved and, on many occasions, we find we passed the suspects by already and the suspect sits within our system.”

Mr Campbell said there were a “good number” of people who could be interviewed and eliminated to allow investigators to focus on a smaller group.

He endorsed the claim that Madeleine could still be alive, saying: “You only have to look at the case in Cleveland, Ohio, and the European cases. Of course there is a possibility she is alive, you cannot exclude it. But the key is to investigate the case and, alive or dead, we should be able to try to discern what happened.”

A Yard spokesman stressed last night that the Met was not urging the Portuguese to arrest any suspect.

He said: “Our investigative review is ongoing and we are encouraged by the progress we are making.

“We are reviewing a significant number of documents and continue to identify potential lines of inquiry.

“We can confirm that as part of this process we have identified a number of persons of interest, but any suggestion that the Met is asking the Portuguese police to make arrests in connection with this inquiry is entirely inaccurate.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

That would make sense and it does show how they are routinely thorough in following up every possible lead
