Why do you think Edgar is promoting his theories when the OG investigation is still ongoing? Do you think he's trying to undermine the Met's work and if not just what is his motivation is ?

I have no idea, but it seems you do, and are finding it all rather delicious.   &%+((£

If Amaral publishes a new book at the end of April as has been promised would you consider that "undermining the Met's work" or not Faithlilly?  Do you consider it shameful that Amaral has been promoting his theories for the last 10 years even during ongoing investigations or not so much?  Let me guess...

Let's see if we can work out which bit of what Dave Edgar said is considered so utterly shameful and why:

Is it the first quote?

“There is every possibility that Madeleine is still alive and could be being hidden somewhere."

I think this echoes statements made by Andy Redowood some years ago so not really that contentious...?  Or do you disagree Faithlilly?

Dave Edgar goes on to say:

“When you get up beyond the main strip of the Algarve there’s countless isolated properties where Madeleine could be being held.

“Obviously we had a number of lines of inquiry and some of those lines did lead us to properties which we followed up and handed over to the authorities.”

Is this shameful?  If so, why?  Is it a lie that there are countless isolated properties and if not a lie, then is it not possible that a child could have been kept alive in one of them unknown to the rest of the world for a number of years?  If this is not possible perhaps Faithliily would like to  explain why not, and also why it is shameful and undermining OG to suggest it?

Maybe it is the next few quotes that Faithlilly considers particularly shameful?

“In my experience they (perpetrators) always confide in someone else for whatever reason and that person needs to come forward and speak to the authorities.

“I would suggest that 10 years, while it seems a long time, would not feel like that to that person with information. What happened on that night would still be fresh in their mind.

“It is not too late to come forward and tell the truth. We have seen in a number of cases recently where people have come forward and given evidence of events which took place many years ago."

Well, is the above controversial and undermining Operation Grange?  If so, how?

Or perhaps it's this bit that's the really shameful bit that should have Edgar hanging his head in shame:

“It does appear that the Metropolitan Police investigation is coming towards an end.

“So now really is the time to come forward, whether it is here in Britain, in Portugal. or anywhere in the world.”

“I think someone has the information that will break this case.”

Quite shocking and shameful isn't it?  Well, no actually it's not really, is it.

Well I can only conclude that having looked closely at all the quotes attributed to Dave Edgar above, none of which seemed particularly controversial, or upsetting or shameful or undermining that it must have been his final quotes that really are beneath the pale:

“British police are very experienced in dealing with witnesses,”

I can guarantee they will be well treated well and the information they give would be in complete confidence.

“There is absolutely nothing to fear from coming forward. I would suggest it would ease their conscience to do so come forward, please.”

Yeah touchy touchy ouch! lol

It would be interesting if someone did come forward and said they found Maddie wandering and crying in a terrible state at a  time her parents said they tucked her up in bed... hmmm  hwat would the 'supporters' say about that?
It would also be interesting If Maddie said she hated her family for leaving here to be ????? while they lived a happy live with the twins without her!

Maddie is never discussed properly on this board it is all about the parents reputation being protected.

My first question to anyone who had found Madeleine "wandering & crying in a terrible state" would be  "why didn't you take her to the nearest police station or call the police?"
Your second point is downright nasty.
WRT discussing Madeleine - we only know what others have told us about pre-disappearance Madeleine; her voice has never been heard by forumites. To discuss her thoughts & feelings would be pure speculation.

I have replied. Edgar shouldn't have been talking to the press while there is an ongoing investigation ( and yes if Amaral did talk to the press before the archiving of the case then he shouldn't have either )

One thing for sure OG certainly isn't looking at Edgar's theory, which makes you wonder why he is trying to push it  .&%+((£

I thought you were a supporter of Freedom of Speech and everyone being allowed to voice an opinion?  There is nothing remotely contentious or shameful in anything Edgar has said and it certainly does not undermine Op Grange in any way that I can see.  So if your certain Op Grange isn't looking at Edgar's theory perhaps you can tell us what theory they. ARE looking at.

We talk about the case and hence so can Dave Edgar.
