"Hellish Lair", so beloved by sceptics for the purposes on mocking the man  is a media invention, no direct quote from Edgar using those words. 

So what's the problem?

And you can see why I question the professionalism and integrity of Edgar.

And now you're damaging your own integrity.

Any of those statements taken singly would raise no eyebrows but when looked at collectively it's clear that he had not the first clue what has happened to Madeleine. The question is why didn't he just admit that?

I don't know exactly what 'child sex gang' means, but why would they commit the crime then hand her over to an individual?

He knows what he is talking about

He has never claimed to know what happened definitively, he does however believe she was abducted and for that you despise him.  It's sad really.

IMO, he hasn't got a clue, as his previous involvement in the case showed.
