also why do the mcanns need minders/security guards on their behalf  on the internet? the  mcanns claim they are not on social media but they know because they get their freinds to keep them informed

You have to take a lot of the McCann's claims with a pinch of salt.

It does make you wonder why? Why are a couple who would normally elicit great sympathy within the public so unpopular?

What makes you think they are unpopular Faithlilly?   A petition by a bunch of spiteful people?

Maddie McCann parents in fresh blow as second online petition launched
A SECOND online petition accusing Madeleine McCann’s parents of neglect had yesterday attracted nearly 27,000 signatures.
By Jerry Lawton / Published 30th March 2017

Another online poll calling for doctors Kate and Gerry to be prosecuted for child neglect has already been signed by 130,243 people.

The couple’s pals dismissed the new attack as “disgraceful”.

It was launched by The UK Database, a website run by self-proclaimed crime campaigner Chris Wittwer which catalogues the movements of child abusers after they have been freed from jail.

The site calls for an investigation into the couple’s actions the night their daughter vanished from the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz in 2007.

The UK Database petition alleged the McCanns had “gained financially” from their daughter’s disappearance.

@)(++(*Website chief Wittwer, 41, is a convicted football hooligan who was jailed for 10 months in 2011 for throwing kicks and punches at rival Huddersfield Town supporters.  &%+((£

The pal of the family said: “Any person can set up a petition.”

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

... and how many criminals might number amongst them?

But running concurrently has been a positive propaganda campaign, arguably a much better organised and financed one. So I ask again, why are the McCanns singled out for such vilification?

I have no idea.
The aren't singled out for such vilifcation by anyone I know in "real life"
It is a puzzle to me why they have been "singled out" by some who spend a great deal of time and effort in doing so.

Well what sort of a similarly idiotic petition would you expect those who support the McCanns to start?

A waste of time because they would never take one just like Smithman will never come forward. Some things are undeniable.
Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

It's in very poor taste actually, obviously that site is poorly regulated.
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

Adrian Prout failed it and that's how they found Kate's body so good came from it for her family. If Prout hadn't taken a polygraph then Kate's body would still be missing and I have no doubt that he would still be claiming his innocence. Liars would be scared of it and that's the point.

The expert who tested him three months ago, British and European Polygraph Association chairman Don Cargill, recalled yesterday: “I said, ‘You’re a murderer.’ He just said ‘Ummmh.’ So I said, ‘Are you saying my test is wrong?’

“He actually replied, ‘No, your test is not wrong.’”

Don, 59, also said: “He smiled in what was one of the most surreal and chilling experiences of my life.

“There was no emotion at all, he was really calm and cool, chillingly so."

Adrian Prout failed it because he was extremely nervous and not because he was guilty.  It just so happened that he was both guilty and extremely nervous but he could also have been innocent and extremely anxious, the machine cannot distinguish between these emotions.

The Polygraph is a gimmick which belongs on daytime TV, it has no place within the criminal justice system.  Someone should tell the eejit who set up the Petition.

I think the site may be aware of that, John.

The contentious petition, on Care2Petitions, has a disclaimer added to it saying: ‘NOTE: CARE2 DOES NOT ENDORSE THE CONTENT OF THIS PETITION’.

As does the organiser of the petition in the first place.
