Their lawyer said, in court, that they had been cleared. Perhaps she reads the UK newspapers?

Kate and Gerry McCann have been officially cleared of any involvement in the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine

Subject to a 20 year period, in which if new evidence emerges, it could be re-enacted.

Then again, I expect this case will be shelved, with no resolution.

The headline is truthful. The bit below, which I quoted, is not. That's why I quoted it.  8**8:/:

I think it shows how careful you have to be with newspaper articles...and this is the telegraph
It looks like they were told they had been cleared of the arguido status then got carried away

According to Ms Kandohla the search hasn't ground to a halt. An unnamed but exclusive source at the Met told her so. Is it usual for official denials to be made by anonymous 'spokespeople'?

Scotland Yard today took an unusual step of denying “a speculative non story” that the Maddie inquiry was grinding to a halt.......Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online, the SY spokesman said defiantly: “We should not have to explain or justify how many times we are going to Portugal. Whatever we do, and we are doing our very best, someone always wants to criticise the actions of the police regarding Madeleine McCann......The investigation continues with focus and determination. It is not winding down, it is not grinding to a halt. It is on going.

The very fact that SY are there is indicative that a proper job wasn't done first time round

First off, SY aren't there.  They never had a permanent presence there.  I've never heard of any police force undertaking a proper investigation by proxy at a distance of 1,500 miles.  It's pathetic really!
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

Most of us realised SY would not completely solve the case
It was just too long after the event
What we hoped is that they would shed some light on what actually happened to a Maddie
They have come to the conclusion Maddie was abducted and the parents not involved
Which is what some of us have been saying for years

I wonder if that was their true agenda from the start?

It's a very unusual case John
SY get a lot of criticism on here and on other forums
Totally unfair imo
They have obviously found information that the pj didn't properly investigate
That's why they are there

Unsurprising really given the lengths lawyers will go for their princely fee.  If I were the McCanns I would be looking for a refund given that their lawyers lost the case and could well cost them substantial damages too.

Yet they are no further than the original investigation.

' 11 weeks to find Madeleine: Police have just under three months before £85,000 funding runs out

The Metropolitan Police's £85,000 funding for search runs out in September

Officers are still determined to find her and defended lack of visits to Portugal

Parents Kate and Gerry McCann have not given up and will 'overcome despair'

I thought the McCann's financial resources were limited, and that is a result of their failed legal actions.

So when will they start searching.....................

Maybe if the prime suspects had stayed a little longer, been a little more obliging and were a little teeny weeny bit more cooperative then the original investigators may have been able to rule them out properly instead of this farce which has endured for ten years culminating in the Portuguese Supreme Court going to the trouble to state that they were never cleared.  What a mess!!

When your child disappears on holiday you cooperate fully with the investigating officers whether you love them or hate them...that is a simple logic understood by most people.

Indeed.

The police were doing their job, and we know the abuse that Kate Mccann directed at them, from her book.
