It is a fact
Not tosh
That the reason this investigation had cost so much is the incredibly large amount of information that has had to be translated and processed

Then prove it.

You've made the statement.

Time to back it up.

I thought it was 50,000 last night.

SIL gave you an example last night of costing.

You are diverting.

You ask for cites from others, now do the courtesy of doing so yourself.

I agree with Eleanor.

This is going off topic and is leading to arguments.

Has it crossed anyone's mind that Operation Grange won't be half inching the money?

Thank you, Stephen.  This is what generally happens when Threads go Off Topic.

However, there is some quite interesting stuff that John may wish to divert elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Back On Topic.  Merci Beaucoup.

Just for clarification, does the £12 mil include the review period or  is it just for the post-review investigation ?
I believe everything. And l believe nothing.
I suspect everyone. And l suspect no one.

Or maybe not -

Indeed Eleanor.

Perhaps someone can start a thread to discuss  the spending of resources by OG, but the only trouble is, there is no official breakdown of costs.

That should be fun.
We could start with a high level breakdown into say:
1 Salaries plus Overhead.
2 Travel and accommodation.
3 Bought Outs [in this case I can only see translation costs being a significant sum].
4 Contingency [Things we haven't thought of but say ten percent of what we have thought of in value].

The news is that the search for Madeleine McCann has not ground to a halt.

In April of this year the Home Office granted Operation Grange another £85,000 to keep the investigation going; think about it folks ~ were I considering adding an extension to the house, if I was very careful I could probably manage it for that ~ in London would it even pay for an architect's drawing?

The additional funding was not only welcome but had been justified by the investigation who were following active case leads.

Apart from the fact that £85,000 is hardly likely to bring the country to it's knees it is a very modest amount in terms of a budget to keep an active police investigation going.
Particularly if the police are investigation what they believe is important information in the search for a missing child.

No wonder Nicola Wall is using technology to cut down on air fares and accommodation costs ... but in my opinion the fact that she has visited twice this year indicates that very important business regarding Madeleine's case was on her agenda and that of her counterpart in Portugal; requiring eyeball to eyeball discussion.

Can anyone offer an explanation that now there is assurance that the inquiry into Madeleine's case still has avenues for progression to be made that yet again, the cost appears to be an issue?

The question put to Kate about which such angst has been raised could, in the circumstances, well be rephrased ...
Question:
Are you aware that you are jeopardising the investigation, which seeks to discover what happened to Madeleine McCann?
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....
