Maybe this is the reason why the McCanns do not make public statments that often anymore, either directly to the media or on their FB page and maybe it's the reason why the Met haven't confirmed the amount of extra funding they have received...

No, no VS that just won’t do.

They manage to thank supporters in their updates but not the police.

And still get slagged off for it no doubt.  BTW did I stop boring you momentarily?

In my study http://miscarriageofjustice.co/index.php?topic=9357.msg456095#msg456095 there appears good reason for the McCanns to feel let down by the LP.

The Home Office statement is below:
A Home Office spokesperson said:
The Government remains committed to the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann (Operation Grange). We have briefed the MPS that its application for Special Grant funding for Operation Grange will be granted.
(already linked in one of barrier's posts).

From the horses mouth as it were; no speculation required:
The Home Office will only consider an application from the relevant PCC. The force is not able to make an application of its own volition.

???

You said ‘And still get slagged off for it no doubt. ‘ and I said but they still do it, therefore a feeble excuse for not thanking the Met directly.

Bottom line, while the parents pour copious gratitude on supporters, Missing People charity, Uncle Tom Cobley and all in the last two and a half years there’s been not one direct statement of gratitude for the Met officers who are diligently looking for their daughter. That, strangely, is left to the hired help.

What a strange set of priorities they have.

Perhaps because they have a direct line to the police, they are able to do their expressions of gratitude in person (and even you cannot tell me this has not happened!), whereas general expressions of thanks to their thousands of supporters on FB or whatever, are just that.  How many times have they expressed their direct gratitude publicly to Clarence Mitchell?  Their parents?  Their close friends and family?  Isable Duarte?  Their forum and Social Media person? Etc.  Etc.  Etc.

Once again I think you are reading too much into things, but perhaps gaining some comfort and reassurance from doing so?

I think the parents just want to get on with their lives now and not have every waking moment dictated to by what occurred nearly eleven years ago.  Who could blame them. They want some semblance of normality in the twins lives after years of upset and turmoil.

Firstly Isabel Duarte and Clarence Mitchell are paid so no need for thanks. Supporters cover their forum and media person ( I assume you mean their Facebook webmistress who is unpaid and  does as little ‘awareness raising’ as that sum suggests.

They obviously think thanking the Met publicly is appropriate as they get their paid mouthpiece to do it yet while millions of pounds and many man hours are being spent on this case they could not force themselves to write a personal thank you, within a message that is already being publicised, to the people who are making that possible.

Odd IMO.

No need to thank the people you pay for doing you a service?  You must be a harsh boss.

Can you please tell me how you know the McCanns have not showered the police with thank you notes and expressions of gratitude each time they meet?  Do you think the police at the Met are all sitting there feeling terribly aggrieved at the lack of personal direct thanks in the pages of the Mirror and the Mail?

Not in the least. I think the Met know exactly why they aren’t being publicly thanked.
