"they may have further information" or "the pj do have evidence"  are both assumptions.

Its an opinion...which I am entitled to...your persistent nitpicking is tiresome imo...you dont rate my opinons ...I dont rate yours...thats where this should end

"they may have further information" or the pj do have evidence"  are both assumptions.

What is the true definition of an assumption.
"a thing that is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof.
"they made certain assumptions about the market"
synonyms:   supposition, presupposition, presumption, premise, belief, expectation, conjecture, speculation, surmise, guess, theory, hypothesis, postulation, conclusion, deduction, inference, thought, suspicion, notion, impression, fancy;"

In fact unless you had proof the statement  "the pj do have evidence" could be false, an untruth or even a lie.

I havent said the PJ have evidence...as regards assumptions that applies to much of what you post...imo

No but you assume they either have evidence or they might have evidence.  - an assumption, which then is awarded Merit points, so becomes your opinion.  That you defend till the end of the Earth.

Why should I not defend my opinion

I am defending my opinion and you are criticizing me for that..that is very unfair...imo

Do they say what is most likely?  Do all their probabilities add up to 100%

I've made this point many times before...the possibilities have to add up to 100%
One poster here disagreed

Have you checked that they do?  Do the PJ estimates of probabilities add up to 100%?

They  haven't given any numbers but it's a fact that they have to..

So without all the facts you stick to your opinion regarding an unchecked possibility!

Snip
The attorney general said the case could be reopened if new evidence emerged from any "serious, pertinent and authoritative source".

It seems the Policia Judiciaria presented new evidence which merited the reopening of Madeleine's case.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Maybe they finally looked back through their rubbish bins.   I've heard that a lot of evidence ends up in the rubbish.
