I don't believe Kate's behaviour was abnormal,  Kate didn't go in as she didn't want to disturb the children sleeping.  I'm the same.

She didn't need to go inside. The door was open so she could see inside but she doesn't check but closes the door.

Though, of course, without eye-balling them, she wouldn't know that they were  actually there.

As the window was open and curtains open she would have noticed the room to be very cold and a breeze surely, ALSO, the light would have been shining in through the now open window...

Just the same as you would have thought matt had seen it 30 minutes earlier.

She only noticed the door being not how she left it, so where does the whooshing curtains come into it;

Surely she should have noticed that first, and matt.

Matt says there was nothing of that kind, so for it to be as Kate says, something changed after 9.30.

Ah so there was a check outside at nine one inside 9 15 [g mccann stood talking outside several minutes] and one inside 9.30.

So imo the abductor was around all that time and not fazed by the frequent checks

Didn't matt say the light was shining in through the open shutters

Some slats were always open so light could get through.

The outside blinds were closed with only two or three slats open.

I have to say I too find this very odd. If the shutter was fully up and sliding window was wide open as Kate claimed then the moment she opened the patio door the air would have rushed through the apartment and would have been very noticeable.  Seems none of this happened on the night though unitl she started to leave the bedroom...puzzling?

There was a long curtain on the inside of the patio door. That would have reduced the flow of air into the apartment imo.
