He is rather like a Kelly Doll is he not? in that he just keeps bobbing up on every thread usually in the company of Eddie and Keela.
A new trinity as it were.

The thing I remember about a kelly doll was that however many time it was knocked over, it bounced back up again unaffected.

He will need to identify the crime before he starts suspecting people.

This is confirmed in a statement released Thursday by the PJ. "This work of reanalysis, which took place during the last two and a half years, allowed us to know new evidence that, by imposing the continuation of the investigation, fulfilled the requirements ... for the reopening of the investigation," reads the note. The PJ goes on to point out that, in common with all cases of missing children, despite the formal closure of the inquiry, "he continued to be attentive to any information that would make it possible to know the whereabouts of Madeleine McCann, the circumstances in which their disappearance and the identity of their author (s) ".
Investigation centered on the rapture thesis
The PÚBLICO knows that the members of PJ do Porto have already visited the Algarve several times to gather elements and carry out informal investigations that will support the need to reopen the case. The reopening of the inquiry is the only way for the PJ to formally inquire these witnesses.

The reanalysis of the case returns to focus the investigation on the kidnapping thesis, the main line followed by Scotland Yard, who also opened an investigation into the disappearance of Maddie. The PJ do Porto team was convinced of this thesis in view of the careful observation of all the information in the process.

Worthy of note is that Pedro do Carmo dismissed discussion of events pre 2008 during the Expresso interview saying ... "About what happened until 2008, I do not want to talk. This has already been sufficiently debated in one's own place.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Who should we believe? A newspaper reporter in 2013 or Pedro do Carmo speaking to Martin Brunt in 2017?

MB  Do you accept that she was abducted?

Different scenarios in which the parents are not the suspects.  The reports do not contradict each other so we can accept both.

He also reiterated in 2017 that the parents aren't suspects in whatever happened to her:

Do you think it was a mistake to have the McCann couple constituted as arguidos in September 2007?

Obviously, I will not answer that question. But what I can say, just as I did back in 2011 and 2013, is that Maddie's parents are not suspects. That statement remains: the parents are not suspects. Period.

I think you're missing the point. The point is that the Publico report wasn't necessarily correct.

It's clear to me that the PJ believe Madeleine's disappearance is as a result of a crime committed by someone other than her parents, whether it's kidnapping or murder and subsequent body disposal or woke and wandered and killed or taken.  Those seem to be the scenarios under investigation - unless you have any evidence that there are any others under investigation?

I admire your faith in the PJ, although I'm a little surprised given their track record.

"The family are not suspects. This is the official position," said a spokesman for the Portuguese police, Chief Inspector Olegario Sousa.

It was extraordinary for Pedro do Carma to expose himself to an interview in the first instance.  It would have been much more than extraordinary had he used the opportunity to criticise the Policia Judiciaria.

Interesting though that the interviewer asked it in the first place,
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Is that your only evidence that the PJ are investigating parental involvement?  A singular quote from a member of the PJ in 2007?  It's really not much to pin your hopes on is it?

It is you who made a claim, not me;

"It's clear to me that the PJ believe Madeleine's disappearance is as a result of a crime committed by someone other than her parents"

You seem to be basing that on do Carmo's statement that the parents are not suspects. I simply pointed out that they have said that before, so relying on it might be a little naive.

The point is that he hasn't confirmed that the PJ are focusing on abduction, so any claims that they are can now cease.

I asked for evidence that the PJ are investigating the parents.  There is none, though back in 2007 there was plenty to suggest they were under suspicion, even when blokey from the PJ said they weren't.  There is nothing whatsover to suggest they are under suspicion now.  IMO it is naive to get your hopes up based on something said by one man 11 years ago.
