In my opinion Amaral’s fridge theory casts serious doubt on his ability to think logically and therefore seriously undermines everything else he has to say about this case. In the same way that a geographer with a first class degree who believes the earth is only 6000 years old has zero credibility as a critical thinker - IMO.
It may be just coincidence that in his only other missing child case, his team were apparently convinced (or appeared to to be) that the suspects had stuffed or had attempted to stuff the child's body in their small fridge/freezer even though the DNA result on an undated speck of blood in the back of it could only determine that it was of human, not animal origin. And that despite the fact that there's no explanation as to what they did with the contents in order to try to do so, when other occupants were about to come home to a small house.
As it was human and not animal, it was therefore certain, according to their testimonies, that something terrible had happened to her in her home that night.
He didn't understand the DNA results in the Madeleine case, either, and his only "we, experts" theory was that the body had to have been frozen and started thawing in the car that they'd hired 3 weeks later. Case solved.
