The T9 collectively did not ensure that they all made themselves available. IMO an appeal by the McCanns to the T7 to attend, would I am sure have been successful.
I think if the PJ had issued summonses to each of the people asked to attend that would have been more successful.

I doubt they had the authority.
If they had organised it for a week after the event, that would have been a different matter

As long as you understand that many feel that not helping the investigation casts doubt on the events of that evening.

But that's of no importance.... IMO the T9 didn't trust the PJ....if the PJ had done a, proper job SY wouldn't be be there now... All my opinion

I know there was threats of issuing summonses.

"Having read the attached letter, there appears to be a shift in the nature and the tone of the request for the re-enactment from something informal and friendly to a formal summons. We do not understand the laws that are being quoted and thus feel it is essential to seek legal advice.

We want to make it absolutely clear that we are NOT refusing to take part in this re-enactment.

Kind regards

Which means that doubts about attending were of no importance either.

I seem to remember Jane Tanner being roundly mocked for crying at same wasn’t she?

It was not clear from the footage whether Tanner was crying at the ‘abduction’ or going all that way to be humiliated by Gerry.

Let’s count the months, shall we?

No importance to you but very important ti the T9 in avoiding themselves being the subject of a miscarriage of justice

I think you underestimate the resilience of this particular couple. They continued to follow the same routine after their daughter disappeared without appearing to be upset by her absence at all.

20th May 2007
17.00-17.30 Meet kids for high tea with other mums and dads. They love pasta and have been doing really well with their vegetables although a few chips have been squeezed in.

17.30-18.30. Games with kids at play area. Amelie loves trying to get in the baby pool!

They had two other very young children, and presumably had to make life seem as "normal" as possible in the circumstances. What IYO should they have done? Ignore them?

"Humiliated by Gerry"??

Jane didn't seem to have a problem stating that she knew they disagree about where they thought they were standing.

That happens. People's recollections of the same events do differ and what did he say that she could have perceived as "humiliating"?

The same way that every other miscarriage  of justice happens.... The, T9 simply did not trust the, PJ... IMO..

Were members  still under investigation  at that time

From memory it was ....... who was the only one who flatly refused to attend.   Of all the people, it is hard pressed to say what she did so wrong that she would refuse to go.

I don't believe for a minute that this was down to one person Rob.  IMO the tapas group would have discussed going back to Portugal among themselves to varying degrees and come up with an appropriate response.

I don’t see how that could have been established when there are so many minor variables from so many different witnesses.  Can you actually envisage an outcome from a reconstitution in this case which would have established either who was tellng the truth or who was lying and who should be charged?  Because I certainly can’t.  Furthermore, I personally find it rather offensive and cruel to make the victims of a traumatic crime  (yes - victims, for that’s what I think they are, not body occulters and co-conspirators) re-live the experience simply to satisfy the police that they are telling the truth.  You may as well throw them in a river and see if they drown to establish their innocence for the good this reconstitution would  have achieved. IMO.

It can be an extremely useful tool when used properly.  It is the investigators job to get to the truth irrespective of feelings.

That doesn't answer the question. What was there about a reconstitution that could cause a miscarriage of justice? What part of the events that night were they worried about?

There was no question that the McCann couple had to attend as they were arguido.  It was the other 8 that tried to pull out IMO.

The point being that if the tapas group refused to attend then there wasn't much point in the arguidos being there.
