Though it appears that skin cells from gloves can be tested these days.
Is that from the inside of the gloves, showing who wore them last?

How would that work?
If a pair of gloves was worn by several people, there would be cells present from everyone

I was only trying to clarify what was meant by "Though it appears that skin cells from gloves can be tested these days."  are they on the inside or the outside?

The McCann is rather unique in that since it happened in Portugal and they have the habit of releasing the file when the case goes cold (archived), we have a large body of police (PJ) files that we can read.
http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/TRANSLATIONS.htm  It takes years of research to go through them.

Martin Grime files are released too
http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/MARTIN_GRIMES.htm
http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/MARTIN_GRIMES_RIGATORY.htm

Thanks.  I'll read when I have time but we can probably cut to the chase here if someone can cite some other UK case where these dogs have been used at a criminal trial to support either the defence or prosecution.

Anyone interested can check out UK based forensic service providers, the following are a couple of examples.  Look at the websites and click on 'services' and you will see none of them offer these dog tests.

Forensic Equity
Eurofins Forensic Services
Cellmark Forensics

Just my opinion of course but Jeremy Bamber is innocent and a couple from UK, unknown to T9, abducted Madeleine McCann - motive unknown.  Was J J murdered as a result of identifying as a goth?

Davel posted up earlier posted about a case in Scotland where the findings of a cadaver dog search were then used in a criminal trial along with much other evidence I hasten to add.

It seems it was carried out by S.Yorks police again.  Are they the only area in the country that have these dogs?

I'm assuming investigators were able to carry out checks to determine who had previously rented the McCanns hire car?

If anyone has a spare 75.00 and some 6 hours to spend on 9th Nov they could always go along to Martin Grime's training course  8)--))

He states that he's unable to answer questions about the McCann case as its an on-going investigation!

Thank you for this.

The last I heard was Mr Grime was scheduled to give a talk in Alicante in Spain, perhaps 2 years ago.  I never did find out whether he fulfilled that or not.

The passage of time, as you say, makes death probable. The dog alerts in 2007 suggested the same outcome. They also suggested a connection between her death and the apartment she was staying in.

Dogs alerted in the Shannon case, but she was thankfully found alive. Should the police have given up?

If even discovery of a body doesn't increase the credibility of the alerts, I fail to see the point of all the effort being put into discrediting the dog alerts over the years.

Possibly to counter people who continue to propagate the idea that they were necessarily evidence of her "death" in the car / flat?

Although she may well have died there or elsewhere, there is so far no proof that she did.

I'm not out to "discredit" the alerts, but to point out that no one knows what exactly Eddie reacted to.

Why do these dogs need a handler?  Why not just unleash them and let them go?

They would lose track of them.  Probably end up chasing a cat or something.

As another weekend approaches can I ask everyone to please follow the forum rules. The hard pressed moderators do an excellent job in keeping things moving so do consider them next time you feel you need to have a go at someone.

Let's try and set a new record this weekend by drastically cutting the number of moderated posts. As an incentive, the prize for the member whose has the most posts moderated/deleted over Saturday and Sunday will be a two day ban.

Happy posting!

All dogs need handling, from hunting dogs to the humble sheep dog all are cued by their handler,Eddie and keela were the same, some see this as a problem.Go watch a dog work its done as its told.

I'm not sure if you are referring to the tracker dogs or the cadaver dogs or both.

Both types are expensive to train properly, so one wouldn't want the dog hurt or worse.  One would also not want it outpacing it's handler - I've never seen one trained to find and return.

Cadaver dogs have to be directed by a handler to ensure a search is complete.  Missing out chunks of terrain would not constitute a thorough search.

Currency dogs, drug dogs, arson dogs and tobacco dogs are equally under fairly close control by a handler, again to ensure a search is complete.

In appropriate circumstances the work is done off the leash, but still under the direction of the handler.

Interesting video clip, was it not?   *&(+(+
