I would say any new book will be more damaging since it can be based on known events.

Not the last book but "The Truth of the Lie" which was based on a thesis rather than known established facts.

How can a book about the established known facts be MORE damaging than his libellous thesis?
Possibly by being published in Portugal to a Portuguese audience.  This Portuguese audience is largely ignorant of what went on in Crimewatch 2013, as it did not get aired on Portuguese channels.  And quite clearly Amaral can write that OG put Smithman on the menu and suggest that one of the e-fits looks similar to Gerry.

He could also claim, whether true or not, that his desire to get the Smiths back to obtain further information was to include an attempt to construct e-fits, but this got blocked by his removal.

What does he have to write about?

The old myths he may have had a hand in creating are recognised for what they are.  Times have moved on in Portugal with the Oporto team working alongside Scotland Yard to find Madeleine's abductor.

I don't think there is a lot of mileage left in continuing excoriating the McCanns when that is taken into consideration.
Will his target audience tolerate purchasing a book which doesn't cover that ground?

He has already done that, Shining, and reprised it continually in numerous media appearances.

You have just covered it in a couple of sentences.

Maybe I have a higher opinion of Portuguese readers than you when I say he is going to have to do much better than that.

As Amaral revealed to the Portugal Resident last weekend, "The McCanns problems are of their own making" or words to that effect.  The full story of what went on after Madeleine's disappearance has never been revealed in a book. Consequently Amaral will have a wealth of material to choose from, the ace up his sleeve I believe was the term he used.

What known and established facts as aired on Crimewatch 2013 could possibly be damaging to the McCanns? !  Amaral can suggest that in his opinion one of the e-fits looks like Gerry but so what?  It has not been established that the Met believes Smithman IS Gerry, so it's only his opinion, not a fact.

The ace up his sleeve appears to be Kate's book.

It won't land the McCanns in jail.

But it may get Amaral beer money until the end of his days in a libel payout.

I can think of nothing worse than living for ten years without your eldest child ~ to know nothing of her whereabouts or whether she is alive or dead.

Another Amaral book is going to have to go some to compare with that.

You need to remember Brietta, the McCanns are accountable for their actions in not looking after their children.

No one else is responsible, or can be held to account for their failure as parents.

"Gonçalo Amaral's new book, "The English Gag - The story of a forbidden book", is launched on Friday, the 11th of December, 2009, at the Ler Devagar - Lx Factory bookshop, in Lisbon."

Unless there is yet another book, I don't see how he can have written a book containing information that emerged in October 2013 Crimewatch.

I do not think Goncalo Amaral's previous literary efforts took cognisance of the fact that it is possible Madeleine may still be alive or that they were written to help resolve her case?

I think Amaral is more interested in Goncalo than he is interested in Madeleine.

I hope that I am wrong and that Amaral makes some effort to acknowledge that Madeleine may well still be alive.

Now that the dogs alerts have proven, it seems, to be without merit ... nothing shows or indicates that Madeleine is not still alive somewhere.

If Goncalo now understands this, it is his duty IMO to put matters right and to encourage further searching for Madeleine.

As predicted, former Portuguese police coordinator Gonçalo Amaral is about to launch yet another book on the subject of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. This will be his second book published in English.

Published 4 October 2016

A FORMER cop who previously accused Maddie McCann’s parents of faking her abduction is set to release a second controversial book targeting the involvement of British police.

Goncalo Amaral has almost finished his second book, but although it is expected to centre around the 2008 disappearance of Maddie in Algarave, Portugal, it is unclear what details the author will release.

The 56-year-old author previously wrote The Truth Of The Lie in 2008, which accused her parents Kate and Gerry McCann of faking Maddie’s abduction.

But the couple have previously been left reeling after having their £395,000 libel victory revoked by Lisbon appeal judges who overturned a ban on his book in April.

To add insult to injury, Amaral also is planning to sue the couple for compensation after winning his appeal.

Amaral is understood to have earned £316,000 from his book before it was banned.

In the book, Amaral claimed that Madeleine, who was three when she disappeared from the family’s Algarve holiday apartment, had died in the flat and they had faked her abduction to cover up the tragedy.

The book was released just three days after Gerry, 48, and Kate, from Leicester, were told their status as arguidos or formal suspects had been lifted on July 21, 2008.

During court proceedings, Kate McCann, 48, described Amaral’s first book as “devastating and distressing”

According to a source, the ex-police chief has been getting help from friends and well-wishers to survive as all of his property is “tied up” legally during the civil action with the McCanns.

Now the author’s second book is almost finished will focus on the Metropolitan Police’s investigation into the missing girl.

It is not yet known to what detail Amaral plans to go into when seemingly speaking about the Met in his second book.

Scotland Yard’s £12m Operation Grange inquiry, prompted by a personal request from David Cameron five years ago and funded by the Home Office, is said to be under pressure as police face budget cuts in other areas.

Not really.

Too much pressure applied to the dog.

But the length of time spent in apartment 5A compared to the other apartments is a huge question-mark and red flag.
