Her username is KazluX, Sadie (not Kazluz).  She's just an anti poster from way back.  Dutch.

She had a hand in the translations on http://themaddiecasefiles.com/forum3.html

Oh thankyou, CG

Why the hell did the PJ use something as important as the time line, from an anti poster?   Any poster ?

That is unacceptable cutting of corners.  Suppose what she said suited Amarals theory, so he accopted it.

Other than that, the parents don't seem to have criticised them at all, as far as I'm aware.

What about Mr McCann's sweet suggestion to Mr Smart who spread it to the whole world thanks to Larry King that the PJ might have planted cadaver scent in order to frame them ?

In the early days Sadie?  Who was it who contacted Sky News and the BBC soon after the disappearance and put out false facts?

Go on, who?

I must have posted this half a dozen times. It was Rachel who contacted the BBC.

It should be pointed out, in terms of the media knowledge and divulgation, that witness RACHEL MAMPILLY, at around 2 a.m. on the morning of the 4th, assumes to have contacted the official British television BBC, through someone that she knew, reporting the disappearance and asking for it to be broadcast.

http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/P_J_FINAL_REPORT.htm

Yep. From memory, somewhere in the files, there's a mention of a British news (broadcasting?) service ringing in the night to confirm the story. As Sky had said that they didn't learn of it until they watched GMTV, I assume that that would have been the BBC ringing. According to Kate's book, David Payne had borrowed someone's computer in the night to send an email to Sky, but they didn't see it. Once they did wake up, they then contacted the family. At least that's my recollection of the sequence of events.

Actually, the first mention of the disappearance in the press seems to have come from the Foreign Office.

Three year-old feared abducted in Portugal Telegraph

A three-year-old British girl has gone missing while on a family holiday in Portugal, the Foreign Office said today.

Portuguese police are investigating the disappearance from a holiday complex in Praia da Luz in the western Algarve.

A Foreign Office spokesman said that he understood the girl's parents had gone to have dinner once their children were asleep last night, but returned to check on them only to find the girl had gone missing.

"They reported it straight away," he said, adding that consular assistance was being offered.

I don't think the PJ did. A poster probably compiled it from various documents in the files. If that's the case, it might be more appropriate in Pamalam's other blog.

Hope you are right.
It comes over to the casual reader as fact

Fair enough, if Ed Smart had actually been given permission to say that in public. But that doesn't equate to running an anti-PJ campaign as, by that time, they were wondering if they were being stiched up.

And we dont know whether he was given that permission?

Seems more likely to me that whilst chatting, Gerry was simply sharing his thoughts and fears with a the father of another girl that had gone missing.

The fact is Mr McCann, the (rather dramatic) day he, after his wife, was made arguido, remembered to call Mr Smart. If the planting suggestion was confidential, he would have protested, don't you think ?
I agree it's not properly speaking an "anti-PJ campaign". But I reckon the McCanns (especially Mr McCann whose talent in orchestrating we see in his reconstruction documentary) rarely speak openly, they mainly do it by proxy. It started with the shutters, broken for the family/friends, just open for the police. Though they likely didn't foresee it,  this "victims campaign" spread very successfully.

The Portuguese Police were best placed to carry out the investigation in 2007 and ultimately reported that there was no evidence of an abduction.  I cannot see that situation changing regardless how many so-called elite detectives as sent to the Algarve by Scotland Yard.

The delay in making any progress is indicative that the Portuguese are not keen to allow the UK police onto their patch since any breakthrough will inevitably refect badly on them.

There is no evidence that she is alive just as there is none that she is dead.  If her parents had cooperated with the Portuguese Police instead of running a Press campaign against them then the outcome might well have been so different.

So many questions...too few answers!

Sorry John don't know how my reply has come out like this as I scrolled down  before replying.

The Portuguese police said there was no evidence of an abduction.    Yet SY are going down the route of abduction.

The Portuguese police said they would open the case unless new evidence was found.    SY have found new evidence and now it has turned into an inquiry.

You can't see anything changing?    Well I can.    I can see a lot that have changed already.

The parents did co-operate with the police.    Even though they thought more or less straight away that Madeleine had been abducted.   They made statements they give DNA they answered all the questions asked them.

Only when it was obvious that the Portuguese police were not searching for Madeleine anymore and believed that the parents had faked an abduction and hidden her body did things change.

I might well come across as cynical where SY and any new investigation is concerned but I have good reason for it.

When investigators are conducting a proper inquiry into a crime they do so behind the scenes and not in the full glare of press scrutiny.  The way they have gone about the Madeleine case therefore leaves me with no confidence that they are serious in their intentions.

Look at it another way.  Just say for instance that Madeleine is still alive and living somewhere.  The minute her keepers get a whiff of anyone on their trail they will move her or make life so difficult for her.

Had SY been serious about a proper reinvestigation of the case it would have been done quietly and for the most part in secret.  They have now lost that advantage having chosen to blab to the press in what can only be seen as an attempt to make them look good.

I honestly believe they have given the McCanns false hope.

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

I can't find another explanation but whom can they hope to convince ? Not the McCanns for sure. Yet they say they're delighted...

They have only given away the fact that they have so many people of interest John, they don't name names.

I would expect any interviewing would be done privately,  though how do you keep the media away?

Yes, they do and I presume most of this work is already done, before being released.
