barrier and pathfinder's names are nothing like similar.

My mistake - apologies.
Just my opinion of course but Jeremy Bamber is innocent and a couple from UK, unknown to T9, abducted Madeleine McCann - motive unknown.  Was J J murdered as a result of identifying as a goth?

I didn't think there was

Certainly nothing genius compared with say Mozart, Shakespeare, Alec Jeffreys etc

I don´t see why a case could not be solved by an outsider especially if you had 10,000 people looking at it from all angles. Is it likely?  Hard to say, but it is also difficult to rule it out completely. Of course we have no way of knowing if the perp/s have even been interviewed by the PJ or even mentioned in the files. Plus, when I say solved there is a big difference between seeing some contradiction or indications of possible guilt and actually gathering evidence against someone which would lead to a conviction. Of course if you look hard enough, which I imagine the PJ and OG did/ are doing you can come up with various people in the files who might merit a second look. But, calling that ´´solving´´ the crime would be a stretch. I have a feeling the perp probably has been interviewed formally or informally by the PJ but as I say this is a gut feeling about the case. The best ´´lead´´ we have is Smithman but what if this is just a red herring and one man bundled MM into a car he had parked nearby?. How do you resolve it without a confession or this man´s partner coming forward?  There certainly were not many clues......................

I know I was thinking the same.  Hopefully there will be a root and branch review or to borrow a phrase from KM 'no stone unturned' in finding out what went wrong.

OK. I'm now absolutely convinced that you're a wind-up merchant.

Yes, especially in this case given Portuguese law whereby all evidence is released into the public domain post case closed.

The PJ files contain all relevant wit stats along with info from police officers, experts and forensics all of which are easily accessible via the internet.  Plus the internet allows us to perform numerous other tasks eg Google maps to consider key locations etc, etc.

Solving a crime is no different to solving any problem which is something we all do everyday ranging from the small eg where did I leave my keys to bigger problems in the workplace etc.
Is that "all evidence" or "all relevant witness" statements?   Did the PJ not look into the night creche and what parents took children there that night?  Did the PJ not have all the daytime child minding records?

I don't believe we are being presented with all the files.  There seems to be too many important gaps in the information we are presented with.

There's no need to guess, they tell you what isn't there;

That is a long list of documents that have been held back.
The two areas of investigation that I mentioned didn't really fall into any of those admitted criteria IMO.

" the night creche records and what parents took children there that night?  Did the PJ not have all the daytime child minding records?"

You can conclude therefore that they weren't requested or supplied.

I'd prefer a different conclusion.

If the case has been solved by a non-professional investigator will the MET welcome this or find it an affront?

And what of the McCanns will they just welcome any news from any quarter or will they find if an affront too?

I never imagined that people would contact the police to share their pet theories. It seems in this case that people have. I expect the police just file them. I expect the McCanns to be similarly unexcited.

I expect the police get dozens of people sending them theories every month.  I can’t imagine there’s anything special about Holly’s. and I’m sure they do get filed - in the bin.
