As a scouser, whilst I don't take any of your stereotypical references to heart, you are way off the mark. We're not the Harry Enfield devices that you refer to and the north - south thing is barely mentioned - it's not the 80's.
The 'plummy accent / south of the Watford Gap' reference is also off the mark. We perhaps hold a more derogatory stance with the occupants of the towns directly around Liverpool than we do with anyone else.
But crack on, you seem to have your finger on the pulse of 1987
Exactly this.

Don't you think it has now become tiresome  or do you find it amusing?

Neither, though what I do find amusing is people claiming to be upset about such trivia.

This isn’t about the McCanns, it’s about your role as a moderator.  Would it be ok for Brietta and Eleanor to continually refer to Amaral as Amaral deliberately to wind up sceptics?  Yes or no?

ETA, haha, the forum autocorrect has answered for me.  It is not permitted to refer to A M O R A L as it winds up his fanclub.  I suggest we ban “book” because it is a deliberate goad, or re-permit the use of all forbidden words.

If folk get wound up by the use of "Amaral" or "book" it sounds to me as though they have low levels of tolerance.  How about focusing on post content as opposed to the odd re-arranged letter?

Just my opinion of course but Jeremy Bamber is innocent and a couple from UK, unknown to T9, abducted Madeleine McCann - motive unknown.  Was J J murdered as a result of identifying as a goth?

I disagree.  Firstly KM's book states a woman with a rather plummy accent (any accent South of the Watford Gap is considered 'plummy' by Liverpudlians) inquired what all the noise was about.  What time was that?  Secondly they are clearly two different time zones:

1st May

- 10.30 pm - 11.45 pm heard what she thought was MM crying and calling 'Daddy, daddy'...

3rd May

- Pre 10 pm when she heard nothing
- Circa 10 pm when KM raised the alarm and PF inquired what all the noise was about.
- Circa 10.30 pm when PF claims she offered up her tel to GM.

Pre 10.30 pm.  Post 10.30 pm.

Saying someone has a plummy voice doesn't mean they come from south of the Watford Gap. Cockneys don't have plummy voices, the upper classes do. The word is used to criticise, not to describe.

I wonder what the 'short and to the point' reply shouted by Kate and Fiona to Mrs Fenn was? More Ango Saxon than plummy I expect.

It does irritate me when reading a post, and I do read most posts on the forum, to read the word "book".
It does alter somewhat the flow of the sentence.
I find it unnecessary , somewhat insulting and very "old hat".

I've pointed out previously KM's judgement of PF and her 'plummy' accent.

Do you really think the McCanns care if they and/or their children are referred to by their initials?  Likewise for KM's book?  The McCanns have lost a child in tragic circumstances; many people on and offline think they accidentally killed their daughter and covered it up; they are involved in a costly and exhausting legal battle.  Please put my "childish" comments into perspective.

As far as I know neither Kate nor Gerry McCann are members of the forum and have expressed no opinion one way or another regarding your posting style.

Some forum members have expressed opinions ... myself included.

I can appreciate that there may be some gain in initialising in context;  few would have to puzzle over, for example ... SY or PJ ... but not HEH unless previously referenced in the post by the full name of Hoos Evert Hendrik which I believe to be protocol.

"book" in my opinion is harder to type than "Book" and therefore comes into no category other than for your own particular reasons best known to yourself.

I believe it devalues what you are posting and I for one switch off when I see it.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

KM is rather judgmental in her book: referring to GNR/PJ as Tweedledee and Tweedledum and PF as having a 'plummy accent'.  I could go on and on but why bother?

I think we all need to show a greater degree of tolerance for posting styles and idiosyncrasies of individuals posters.  I would rather cease posting than be marshaled into pandering to the whims of others.

Why do you type the word "book" instead of book when mentioning Kate's book?

It's the usage of words on this forum which is being discussed.

The word was used by Kate McCann and a reason for it's use was given by a forum member. I disagreed with that reason so I replied. I'm not interested in forum spats about the spelling of words.
