Has everyone given up on Madeleine McCann?
« on: September 08, 2019, 10:40:00 AM »
There was a time when barely a day went by without a Madeleine McCann story appearing in the British or Portuguese Press. It appears that this is no longer the case, no new theories are being espoused, no new suspects are being exposed, even the trolls have gone away.

What is going on?
Was this predictable?
What now?
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

The press who act like trolls have nothing new to report, see how quick the girl who died in Malaysia disappeared from the news once it was a non story.

The stories weren't aimed at finding out what happened to Madeleine McCann, they were about newspaper sales imo.

People read the papers.  It was the people who had the interest.

Nothing simple imo, complicated it to bits and let it run, very imaginative.

It was a slogan displayed in a UK newspaper office at some point in the past. At least that's what I was told by a guy who knew a guy who worked there. So probably totally untrue. Or made up.

Since we are told that the media blast was to 'find Madeliene'. Also used to trash other narratives which was dissmissed by friends of family and experts of so and such. Stage manged by professional PR gurus, and political news cleaners (spin doctors). It began to fall apart as newspapers began to allow  opinion colums to be open to the general public. They then got a real feel of what many were thinking about the t9.

The backlash was, at times, brutally honest.  This brought about a verbal war,and Brenda Leyland was one such victim of the label 'nasty trolls' who dared to speak up an dstand up to those  who ' story didn't fit properly.

It would appear the parents just want to get on with their lives, new lives, and not be reminded or asked awkward questions about what really happened. IMO

Why you want to continually raise Brenda Leyland... A victim of her own actions imo

We are duscussing media are we not? You and I do not know why Brenda  took her own life. I do not believe it was a coincedence that supporters gave  her details to the  media played a part in that whole episode. This was at a time Gerry and supporters was demanding something be done about 'evil trolls'.

Very much on topic IMO.

You have no issues talking about the dogs and Amaral.

Brenda made some nasty comments on the net which she no doubt was ashamed of... It looks like her family had also previously turned on her... She had a history of psychiatric problems... She had previously attempted suicide

I don't think it's a good idea to raise the issue

Brenda was outspoken about the McCanns as were many people. She was singled out tricked by zealot supporters who gave the 'evidence ' report  to SY they  binned it so the zealots went to the media.

Nasty comments were your opinion. having an opinion is Ok, in my opinion, even if they differ.

I do recall the triumphant celebrations with this regard by supporters.  It was ugly!

Which is ... "Has everyone given up on Madeleine McCann?"  Thank you.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

John opening paragraph...

Very much on topic- discussing why newspapers are not as enthusiastic about MBM being found. AND about trolls...

Certainly neither the Judicial Police in Portugal nor Scotland Yard in England have given up on Madeleine McCann as both forces are still investigating her very active case.

The last "leak" from which apparently emanated from a usual source.  Otherwise both forces have been very circumspect with whatever action is being taken as have the newspapers who may very well have an angle on what is happening presently but are waiting for a promised bigger story.

Madeleine's case is obviously an active one ... so what is to be said while that is the situation ... and who is going to be open to accusation of jeopardising the outcome by inappropriately leaking information while it is still ongoing?
