I for one would be incredulous if the police hadn't gone in the greatest possible detail into what the McCanns in particular and their friends could tell them.

No-one outwith the loop of the investigation knows who was interviewed and when.  Similarly, the Judicial Police can ask to speak to whoever and whenever within their jurisdiction.

I imagine both police forces carrying out the investigation do speak to each other pertaining to the case.

Some people have firm opinions and some don't. I don't and have made that clear time and again. Why people can't accept that and why they insist that I do have firm opinions is a mystery to me.

Wrong. The UK police did not question the Gaspars in conneciton with the disappearance of Madeliene.
The Gaspars presented themselves as witnesses to behavior they thought may be significant. Which Amaral was not privvy to;when in post.
