CC's Up-dated Book

I thought I would do my bit yesterday to help the High St and bricks and mortars retailers.  Went into WHS with a view to buying CC's book which I was told wasn't in stock but I could order it.  The person I initially spoke with was an older lady who hadn't been trained to order.  She called through to her supervisor to see if she could order the book but it transpired she also hadn't been trained.  I asked to speak with the store manager and the supervisor appeared, a young woman in her 20's, who wanted to know what it was about.  I explained about the difficulties ordering the book and she apologised saying all those that had been trained were either off sick or on their days off.  I said I would like to speak with the manager.  Some minutes later she appeared and I was told the manager was on the phone and unlikely to be free for 20 minutes.  Needless to say I went home and ordered online. 

Anyway has anyone read the updated book yet?

No wonder the high street is on it's knees. I've got it but haven't had time to read it yet. The new part is just a few chapters.

Two new chapters + acknowledgements, around 24 more pages in total, covering such things as the CoLP wanting the twins' milk teeth, his daughter finding the cs photo of Sheila on the net, and a sculptor's life in Cornwall.

Photos, now at the end instead of the middle, same as in the original plus a couple of different ones, but smaller and poorer quality, being printed on cheap paperback paper.

I've received my copy now and read the additional chapters.  Have to say I'm somewhat what disappointed.  All seems a bit cheap to me with the little marker highlighting 'Now a major TV drama'.

Nothing about the proceeds going to charity.  Why would a father want to enter into such a commercial arrangement some 34 years on when he has rebuilt his life?

Why would he donate the proceeds to charity?

Personally I thought  his book was really good in showing how he explored his grief and his open minded approach to different ways of doing so.

In addition he looked very much at Jeremy being a victim of his upbringing just as Sheila was. Both adopted, both then sent away to boarding school at a young age. Neither shown much affection by June and even though Neville was more affectionate he was overwhelmingly busy running a farm.

June doesn’t come across well as a parent for either Sheila or Jeremy both of whom needed far more in the way of affection than they experienced. Then you have June’s mental illness and her religious mania .

I’ve always thought Jeremy guilty but part of my interest is what led him there and I like that Colin makes an attempt to understand this.

For an in-depth look at the Bamber family history and police investigation, you would have been better spending the same amount on CAL's paperback.  I've bought a few books from 'wordery' in the past, promptly delivered, well packaged and can recommend them ...

Good to see you here.  I know you're super analytical so look forward to your contribution as and when.

I guess all the books have something to offer but I would recommend Roger Wilkes 'Blood Relations' and Carole Anne Lee's book.

I was referring to the re-launch with the two additional chapters.

I believe CAL sought out CC circa 2015 with a view to contributing something to her book.  CC declined but CAL was able to include an email from CC where he seemed to say he wished the whole thing would go away; that he had rebuilt his life and was upset when his daughter found soc images of SC online.  In which case why decide to get involved in 2020?
