Is goading by altering an opponent's screenname acceptable behaviour on this boa

A poster is repeatedly mis-spelling debunker as bedbunker which is a little irritating. I have retaliated by calling her fartlillet in response.

SHould such goading be allowed.?

IF so I might take it up with the more obtuse anti posters.

It is insulting by suggestion, but I can't say it bothers me all that much when they do it to me.  And I wouldn't retaliate.  In my opinion, it simply destroys any argument they make.  But others may feel differently, which is their right.  Although Faith Whatsit has absolutely no cause for complaint.  And I do find your interpretation quite hilarious.

If all these people have is insults based on your user name it indicates that they don't really have much else.

I have pointed this out to her.

...  because you are making a habit of starting threads to discuss other members,  and I thought it should be pointed out

I really do feel that the  'us and them'  approach brings nothing to the table that is of interest to those of us who are not involved in rivalries born on other forums

...  and,  more importantly,  it  has no bearing at all on the disappearance of a  little girl

I really don't  care  about the  'six years of history'  between the  key board warriors you speak of ...  and neither will others, who,  like me,  have come to  this  forum to debate the case of the missing child rationally and politely

This  'battle'  and the constant ridiculing of opposing opinion has no place here,  in my opinion

I think parody has a long and honorable tradition in the media and long may it continue.  I had not noticed until you pointed it out.  I can think of a worse one.  What happens in English is mild compared to what happens on Chinese and Japanese language boards.

The choice of a handle and avatar is often done for ego or to irritate and I chose my name for just that reason.  Call yourself Batman and within the hour you will be Fatman, Truthseeker invariably becomes Tripespouter.  I think the cleverest one are anagrams such as Fawlty Towers becomes Flowery tw..s.

Live with it, once people know it irritates you the more they will do it.

I am very thick skinned. I can also use sarcasm and abuse effectively. I was trying to stop the silliness, but also wondering how far I cou l d go in retaliation.
