CB has been described as quite bright by those that know/knew him so I don't really know what you're basing your opinion on?

Why would any rapist / murderer who plans an abduction of a child to rape and murder go to all that trouble?  Maybe he took photos and made a video and sold the on the black web, or maybe it was for the sheer thrill of it, nothing more.  It wouldn't be the first time such a thing has happened, yet you're making out it's almost unheard of.  Why?
