I agree which makes it all the more likely that Paiva's court testimony is nothing more than pie in the sky.  Kate had many dear friends and family members who she would have phoned if she had needed anyone to talk to in the middle of the night.

General area perhaps, provided he had his phone on all the time.

I believe he went to Germany towards the end of May, so not a particularly large time window to check, though I suppose he could have traveled quite some distance around the Algarve during that time.

Unless searchers strike lucky, I think they'll be at it for some time yet.
