I just checked Portuguese press and all are saying that searches are connected to CB.

Not a single source anywhere is reporting that any force is looking for so called Smithman.
Even Sandra F has changed her colours.
Only a group of people is repeating the same story over and over again.

Has anyone considered the searches may be nothing to do with the McCann case?  Twitter rumours ( I know, not necessarily true) are that the searches happened 3 weeks ago. There was a murder in Villa Da Bispo dated 22 May. So maybe police have been looking for a murder weapon? 

  I'm also going off the fact there have been no photos of these searches. Seems to me like the UK media heard rumours of a search and have jumped to the conclusion it's to find a body.

They already searched those wells I believe.  Probably a coincidence and were looking for something else entirely.

Probably to do with some murder of some old guy, or maybe they thought this was the well used by the McCanns, almost certainly a coincidence that these wells were by Brückner’s properties

You can believe anything you like, but imo relying on press reports is naive.
