Makes sense if the well searches are not to do with Bruckner, the PJ wouldn't be telling them about an unrelated case.

Also some reports say 'nothing' was found. So the theory of having intelligence on Bruckner can't be right unless it is very poor intelligence ( bit like the burglator searches in 2014), which leads to the question why would the PJ make the effort?

It would be an incredibly boring, expensive and pointless exercise for the media to be camped next to the wells out in the boondocks.  What would you be expecting?  Hourly updates?  Interviews with divers?  Lengthy discourse on the history and geography of the locale and its well system?  It could drag on for weeks and be ultimately fruitless so I think that probably answers your question.

Why did the press go to PdL when the appeals were first issued by the UK and Germany then? That was a waste of time, especially with restrictions on travel.

Because it was the biggest news story about this case in many years and gave them all an excuse to get out of Covid Britain and into the sunshine I expect.  Do you think there's something significant in the fact that the world's press haven'tapparently set up camp in the Portuguese outback, next to some wells?  Do you expect them to show no interest if and when something is found?
