So apparently Dutch press were linking the death of this man to the McCann case which his partner said was incorrect. This article is dated 11th June, so may explain why searches in the area this guy died have been linked to Bruckner.

Because it was the biggest news story about this case in many years and gave them all an excuse to get out of Covid Britain and into the sunshine I expect.  Do you think there's something significant in the fact that the world's press haven'tapparently set up camp in the Portuguese outback, next to some wells?  Do you expect them to show no interest if and when something is found?

It must have been about the sun, because nothing at all was happening in Portugal.

I meant at the time not now.  Assuming the wells have been searched recently, and it's not just tabloid fodder, it might be connected to something entirely different.

I have no idea, the pressed reported that the PJ were "considering" searching the wells on his properties back in mid June.  Perhaps they simply couldn't be arsed in the end.  That wouldn't surprise me at all.  So yes, you're probably right, this well searching atm is just an enormous coincidence, most likely looking for evidence against the McCanns.
