”I spoke with Luke the day before this statement was posted and a great deal of what was in the statement didn’t come up in that conversation at all and what did come up wasn’t discussed in the tone or the interpretation that the statement would suggest so yet it came as a little bit of a surprise to me as well the day after erm I’d had a conversation with Luke I knew decisions were being taken about the direction of the campaign but not anything like what was said in the statement…”

For me this suggests trouble has been brewing for some time

Sandra Lean didn’t need to make any comment today - she could have waited another week or more

Internet campaigns
‘The steady increase in internet campaigns, although creating an outlet for information which is largely ignored or dismissed by the mainstream print and broadcast media, is orchestrated by individuals who have little or no experience of creating and guiding a large media presence, or how to maintain and increase interest once a case has begun to draw attention. An apparently successful campaign for one high profile case in 2009/2010, which drew several hundred supporters, collapsed amidst a very public, bitter and acrimonious dispute between various contributors.89 There were several consequences, including some contributors and supporters withdrawing from internet advocacy, others withdrawing from some campaigns whilst supporting others, and the creation of a general rift in what had, prior to that, been an encouraging and cohesive group. Anonymous and malicious posting, and posters using multiple online identities, have been an ongoing difficulty for online campaigns (and campaigners), with smear tactics and dishonesty being used to discredit individuals and cases, sometimes spilling over into physical threats and arrests90.
Restrictions in Scotland introduce an added difficulty for individuals wishing to run internet campaigns, as it is an offence to make public many documents used in trials or court proceedings,91 something which is a central part of internet campaigns both in England and in the USA. The ability to make available publicly actual copies of documents used in investigative and trial proceedings is considered to be a strong factor in convincing members of the public that a conviction is wrongful, but in Scotland, the inability to do so leaves open accusations that supporters of wrongly accused/convicted persons cannot “prove‟ that their claims have any basis in truth or fact, and those supporters and campaigners have no way of effectively responding to such accusations.

I hope whoever is heading up Luke’s campaign has the same drive, determination and dedication that Sandra has had for the past 18 years, keeping it in the public eye and people talking about the case. The documentary and book is what has made the difference now, whether you agree with their contents or not it certainly got a lot of awareness. I hope Luke and his mum appreciate all the years of hard work she put in and all the years hassle she has had to put up with in order to get to where he is now. It seems such a shame she is walking away from the case but seems Luke wants to head in a different direction. Totally agree he was wrong to not discuss it with her prior to the statement being released, Really does not reflect well on him IMO!!
Well done Sandra for all your work. I for one thank you for opening my eyes up to the farce that is the Scottish policing / justice system!

Anyway it all started because I put out a statement from Corinne, about how she would like the money that was being raised at the time via go fund me to be put aside for Luke. People were angry because that statement was seen by or sent to go fund me and was stopped. I did say a day or so after that statement I had spoken to Luke and that he wished to money to go to his mum so he could worry a little less. But still it was shut down and I was block! That's the honest truth of it. X

Yeah, it's most definitely time. Poor Jodi and the pain her mother must feel every single day since that day until now must be such a heavy burden to bear it's unimaginable. Then, for keyboard  warriors and internet cowards to have their say about Jodi's family and anyone else living or dead is abhorrent. They are allowed to remain anonymous whilst nothing's in the public domain,  no proof! Cowards, one and all because if it cannot be shared then it shouldn't be mentioned.
