Probably wrong of all these police forces and their investigators to have 'ganged up' on this proven sexual deviant to come up with enough evidence to declare he is the prime suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

He has been made Arguido by the Portuguese and their law no longer allows that to happen without evidence being in place which justifies that.

Why don't you try a wee bash at posting on topic ~ who knows you may find it more refreshing than ground hog day.
What changes to their law are you alluding to that makes CB's arguido status more valid than the McCann's?
With a source please.

Police 'rushed Madeleine McCann case'
By Fiona Govan in Praia da Luz5:01PM GMT 05 Dec 2007
Madeleine McCann’s parents might have been spared the anguish of being named suspects over her disappearance if Portuguese police had not rushed their case through before a change in the law, it has been claimed.

Kate and Gerry McCann were made arguidos - formal suspects - just eight days before new legal measures were introduced which would have required firmer evidence against them.

The couple’s Portuguese lawyer has claimed that detectives may have deliberately fast-tracked the investigation to ensure they were put in the frame.

Investigators named the McCanns, both 39, as arguidos on September 7 after allegedly finding microscopic traces of blood in their holiday apartment and "bodily fluids" they thought could have belonged to Madeleine in the boot of their hire car.

Carlos Pinto de Abreu, a Portuguese lawyer on the McCanns’ defence team, said that under Portugal’s new penal code, police must have more than just suspicions to make somebody an arguido.

"On September 15 a new procedural penal code was introduced making it necessary for there to be evidence against the citizen before they could be made an arguido.

"Before this date it wasn’t necessary. You could be made an arguido without actual evidence against you," he said.

"Maybe that is why the investigation took the turn it did - why they were named arguidos eight days before the new laws came in," said Mr Pinto de Abreu.

His comments followed those of Fernando Jose Pinto Monteiro, Portugal’s Attorney General, who recently admitted the McCanns may not have been made suspects under the new laws.

"At the time when the McCanns were made 'arguidos' the law did not demand justified suspicions. I do not know if they would be (arguidos) in light of the new Code," he said in an interview with the Portuguese magazine Visao.

Clarence Mitchell, the official spokesman of the McCanns, said he hoped the introduction of the new law would work in their favour.

"Being declared arguidos almost three months ago caused the McCanns’ immense anguish and continues to do so," he said.

"To think they could have been saved that under a law introduced only days later makes a mockery of the case against them.

"They are entirely innocent victims of a horrible crime that has taken away their daughter and they want to be cleared as soon as possible so the focus can return to finding Madeleine.

"If it is true that changes to the law would have meant that they would not have been made arguidos that’s all the more reason for their status to be dropped now.

"Regardless of any changes in the law they should be eliminated forthwith from the inquiry."

Portuguese police were told last week that forensic results requested from Birmingham’s Forensic Science Service had so far proved "inconclusive".

They plan to travel to Britain next week to re-interview the McCanns and the seven friends who dined with them at the Tapas restaurant on the night of May 3, when Madeleine went missing from the holiday apartment in Praia da Luz.

That's not how it works, we need the sauce, so you can reel in the protestations. The rules don't say 'if I think it's an established fact then I don't need to provide a source'.
Besides, as you know, even with the modified law, the McCann's could still have been made arguidii.
But at least you provided a source, so that's something.

I can't see how the McCann's could not be made arguido initially..

So who decided to declare CB an arguido and why? Was it the PJ who are investigating the McCann case or was it done for other reasons? People were made arguidos previously at the request of Operation Grange. Perhaps this arguido was created at the request of German investigators.

Actually no - that is not how it works and you know it isn't.  To pretend ignorance of a fundamental component added to the mix to traduce the parents is just tiresome.

Which is precisely the situation the McCanns were in ~ no evidence.

The situation regarding Brueckner is ~ evidence.  "making it necessary for there to be evidence against the citizen before they could be made an arguido"

The Portuguese investigation totally misunderstood how to conduct an inquiry into a missing child.  Seems the rule book of this particular squad was quite inflexible in ruling that it is always the mother at blame.

For which your source is?

Do you never read anything about the current investigation 🙄 ?   If you've really missed it allow me to suggest you Google it or we return to the ludicrous situation we were once at where we ALL provide a source for each and every comma.
'Cept I seem to recall complaining quite a lot that you seemed to think you had an exemption.

According tho the New York Post it is merely ‘sources’
https://nypost.com/2022/04/22/madeleine-mccann-suspect-christian-brueckner-has-now-been-quizzed-in-jail-report/

“The convicted pedophile officially declared a suspect in the 15-year-old disappearance of Madeleine McCann has now been formally interviewed about it for the first time in prison, according to a report Friday.
Portuguese prosecutors traveled to Germany to officially inform Christian Brueckner, 44, that he was an “arguido,” the term for an official suspect who has yet to be charged, according to the Evening Standard.
Sources told the paper that they then fired a barrage of questions at him about the missing 3-year-old UK girl, bluntly asking, “Where were you the night Madeleine McCann disappeared?”

The Mirror is satisfied with ‘sources close to’
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/inside-madeleine-mccann-suspects-interview-26772964

The Independent
limit themselves to an official statement about being made arguido.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/madeline-mccann-formal-suspect-christian-brueckner-b2062949.html

“The Portimao section of the Faro department of criminal investigation and prosecution issued a statement on Thursday which, according to a translation, says that a person was made an “arguido” – which translates as “named suspect” or “formal suspect” – one day prior.”

The Independent goes on to say ‘This move by Portuguese authorities could mean that Brueckner, who is in prison in Germany, may be transferred to the Algarve for formal questioning.’

To me this suggests that he hasn’t been formally questioned

As usual, clear as mud.
I believe everything. And l believe nothing.
I suspect everyone. And l suspect no one.
I gather the facts, examine the clues... and before   you know it, the case is solved!"

Or maybe not -

OG have been pushed out by the Germans who have reserved all the deck chairs for the foreseeable future

There's screeds of information on MSM concerning Portugal constituting Brueckner as an arguido in the crime against Madeleine.

I don't know if there is an 'official' press release to that effect from the Portuguese prosecutors' office because I haven't trawled Portuguese links and the usual translators haven't provided us with any.

Time you accepted this is not a game for point scoring and/or traducing the McCanns.

But there again there has been a lot of denial on the threads today.  Nobody has heard of the Queen of Portugal or shares her views ~ that's OK I'll accept that.
Significant changes to the Portuguese Criminal Code have to be cited to 'experts' ~ suggesting ignorance of common knowledge.  Not surprising, I think on the premise that if you ignore it it will go away.  While you appear unable to keep up with current affairs in your specialist subject.

Where did I say you "have no right to ask where information comes from" - perhaps 'lost in translation'.  Of course you have the right to ask as does every member posting here.

There are obvious posts where cites are required and they almost always accompany the post in that event.

Where the constant demand for cites is irritating is when it is done for no good reason other than disruption or to interrupt the flow of the thread.  There was a spate of that at one time and it would be a pity for it to creep back into practice again.
