So an assumption based on another assumption.
No, that's your assumption.

German police say -   “It would have made sense for him to reveal his supposed alibi the moment he came under suspicion. It’s just mind games.”

CB is trying to be clever.   If he had a credible alibi he would have revealed it early on.   He doesn't.

Had he had an alibi which confirmed that it would have been impossible for him to have had any involvement in Madeleine's disappearance and subsequent fate that would have been sufficient to eliminate him from the inquiry.

With Brueckner eliminated from the inquiry the police would have been free to pursue other avenues.

The fact that Brueckner is still the number one and, as far as we know, only suspect suggests to me that the proposal that Brueckner has a sustainable alibi is a spurious one.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

According to the Oracle  that is McFadden, the Portuguese have made Bruckner an arguido in order to clear him from the investigation - so what are they waiting for?  Ask him if he did it, he says "no - here's my cast iron alibi", PJ say "great stuff, we knew it wasn't you and the that the parents dunnit anyway", announce to the world CB is as innocent as a newborn babe, job's a good 'un.  Should all be done and dusted by the end of the week I would have thought...

It's not misfortune if they've got the right man, a bit pointless to go down another avenue just because this one's proven a bit difficult to sew up.

Added to which he won't care how much police time is consumed, indeed wasted if he genuinely has an unbreakable alibi - it's not as if he's going anywhere in the next few years.

Your post hits the nub of the situation.

I think sometimes it is forgotten that this case is all about a three year old little girl and what happened to her all those years ago in 2007.

Earlier on in the thread Brueckner has been described as "the enemy" of the forces of law and order and any who might be unfortunate enough to encounter him as he goes about his unlawful business.

How extraordinary is it that there is such support for him and such derision for his "enemy"?  Is this an illustration of the old proverb ~ "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" in operation.
Brueckner's aim and objective seems to be to thwart the police investigation into a missing child.  It is beyond my comprehension why there are those who laud him for that.

Innocent of what crime, all we have he is a suspect , the BKA assume Madeleine is dead and that CB killed here, thats it an assumption covered in circumstance backed up by unreliable witness's, all in all it adds up to the sum total of feck all.

I disagree.

It adds up to the prime suspect in a serious crime being under police investigation.

Three National police forces are investigating him.  The latest to do so have named him as an arguido using a process which is only allowed by law if there is credible evidence to support it.  I think the tacit support commanded by this criminal as seen repeated in the threads of the forum, is one of the oddest phenomena it must be possible to witness.

Doesn't it occur that having been investigating Brueckner since 2017 the police might have him bang to rights.

The Policia Judiciaria have evidence against him justifying making him an arguido in Madeleine's case.

I think the only folk getting themselves "bogged down" in anything are sceptics who were never able to get beyond groundhog day which they perpetually revisit.

By that argument they had evidence against McCann and Murat .

Sorry - you are entirely wrong in that.

They had "suspicion".

They had no evidence as proven by the fact there was none to justify charges being laid.

Days after the McCanns were made arguidos - the Penal Code was updated to ensure that evidence justified doing so.

Brueckner is an arguido ONLY because there is EVIDENCE AGAINST him.

Police 'rushed Madeleine McCann case'
By Fiona Govan in Praia da Luz5:01PM GMT 05 Dec 2007
Madeleine McCann’s parents might have been spared the anguish of being named suspects over her disappearance if Portuguese police had not rushed their case through before a change in the law, it has been claimed.

Kate and Gerry McCann were made arguidos - formal suspects - just eight days before new legal measures were introduced which would have required firmer evidence against them.

The couple’s Portuguese lawyer has claimed that detectives may have deliberately fast-tracked the investigation to ensure they were put in the frame.

Investigators named the McCanns, both 39, as arguidos on September 7 after allegedly finding microscopic traces of blood in their holiday apartment and "bodily fluids" they thought could have belonged to Madeleine in the boot of their hire car.

Carlos Pinto de Abreu, a Portuguese lawyer on the McCanns’ defence team, said that under Portugal’s new penal code, police must have more than just suspicions to make somebody an arguido.

"On September 15 a new procedural penal code was introduced making it necessary for there to be evidence against the citizen before they could be made an arguido.

"Before this date it wasn’t necessary. You could be made an arguido without actual evidence against you," he said.

"Maybe that is why the investigation took the turn it did - why they were named arguidos eight days before the new laws came in," said Mr Pinto de Abreu.

His comments followed those of Fernando Jose Pinto Monteiro, Portugal’s Attorney General, who recently admitted the McCanns may not have been made suspects under the new laws.

"At the time when the McCanns were made 'arguidos' the law did not demand justified suspicions. I do not know if they would be (arguidos) in light of the new Code," he said in an interview with the Portuguese magazine Visao.

Clarence Mitchell, the official spokesman of the McCanns, said he hoped the introduction of the new law would work in their favour.

"Being declared arguidos almost three months ago caused the McCanns’ immense anguish and continues to do so," he said.

"To think they could have been saved that under a law introduced only days later makes a mockery of the case against them.

"They are entirely innocent victims of a horrible crime that has taken away their daughter and they want to be cleared as soon as possible so the focus can return to finding Madeleine.

"If it is true that changes to the law would have meant that they would not have been made arguidos that’s all the more reason for their status to be dropped now.

"Regardless of any changes in the law they should be eliminated forthwith from the inquiry."

Portuguese police were told last week that forensic results requested from Birmingham’s Forensic Science Service had so far proved "inconclusive".

They plan to travel to Britain next week to re-interview the McCanns and the seven friends who dined with them at the Tapas restaurant on the night of May 3, when Madeleine went missing from the holiday apartment in Praia da Luz.

You keep on telling yourself that if it makes you happy.

However -

Brueckner is a career criminal. The police are his enemy. Why would want to he help the enemy?

Well he's the one moaning about what is being said about him.  If he had an alibi he could have stopped it all couldn't he right at the beginning.
