I might be wrong but I have never heard of a three year old coming home after 6 plus years.
After 6 plus years out of her bed.

There's no evidence it wasn't. Am I right to understand "manslaughter" as homicide without intention to kill ?

Yes, that is a kind of definition of 'manslaughter'.

But police and courts don't work on this methodology of "Well it might have been them because we can't prove it wasn't", they work on the need for actual proof of the crime.

The results of the DNA were inconclusive. That Amaral and his team did not realise that is not the McCann's fault but theirs and that is why this trial may possibly find Amaral and his co-defendants guilty.

Under English Law, involuntary manslaughter arises where the accused did not intend to cause death or serious injury, but in any event did so through recklessness behaviour.

Under Portuguese Law, manslaughter, which art. 136 of the Penal Code refers to as homicide caused by negligence, is punishable with a prison term of no less than 6 months and no longer than 3 years, or a fine. If the death is caused by gross negligence the penalty the prison term is of 6 months to 5 years.

And before archiving the case,  the Public Prosecutor's final report  'left on the table'  the possibibility of  Neglectful Homicide  ...  did he not  ?

I don't think you are wrong, I haven't heard of a child being found after all this time.

Does that mean she should be abandoned then? Left with no one looking for her?

She  hasn't been  'abandoned'  though, has she ?

The British Government ordered an unprecidented review and Scotland Yard have spent over five million pounds of tax payers money on a two and a half year investigation   (   still ongoing  )

And all this  AFTER  Amaral published his book

In those circumstances I really don't see how the McCanns can claim that Amaral's book  'damaged'  the search

Again yes since there was no evidence to rule it out. The crime wasn't established then any more than it is today.

Haven't they been supposedly looking for her for six long years without finding the slightest trace?

If Madeleine is alive and well it will only be through her own efforts that she will ever be reunited with her real family.

I believe they have been looking for her, she's their child. The Portugese police stopped looking for her, that is, if they  ever started.

Well if they didn't the McCanns wasted a hundred thousand pounds translating the many volumes of investigative files

That's really a very unfair comment Jazzy.  Hundreds of Portuguese people including civilians, both police forces, coast guards and air rescue spent days scouring the land and sea around Praia da Luz for her for days on end.  Amaral didn't search but then that wasn't his job.
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
