The only context that the removal does matter, and perhaps makes a difference, is with regard to the public's support of the McCanns but should that really be of concern when it will make not a bit of difference to the people that really matter in all this SY and the PJ ?

Loosely translated that means that so long as the PJ and British police know the truth, it doesn't matter if the rest of the world is duped into believing that the dog videos reveal something incriminating/suspicious about the McCanns?

Well, I can see why you would think that ...

Precisely.  Of course the truth doesn't really matter to some people, only the propaganda value of the dog videos - "Dogs Don't Lie", but people with an agenda sure can make it look that way...

As only the PJ and SY have the power to discover what happened to Madeleine  what does it matter about the rest of the world's opinion ?

Propaganda ? Is this about finding out what happened to Madeleine or saving the McCann's reputation ?

Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

This thread is about whether or not the video footage of the dogs inspections have been doctored by Levy / Morais, and if so to what end?  Anti McCann Propaganda seems to be the only reason I can think of, unless you can think of a better one?

You may not think it important that the dog videos that have formed the central lynch-pin for the doubters case against the McCanns have been doctored but some of us do see that as significant, certainly as far as the debate about the McCanns is concerned.  I'm not really surprised that you'd rather trivialise the fact that important elements of those videos have been removed however...

I think it illustrates the folly of fabricating a case assembled on personal bias and the corruption of official documents and videos which have been given into the wrong hands.

Peoples’ opinions are too easily manipulated by, among other things, cynical and dishonest editing of video footage.

For example the insinuation that the shot of Eddie barking furiously behind the couch is indicative that Madeleine’s body had lain there, is endorsed by omitting the reality that forensic evidence has proved that not to be the case.

That it remains one of the keystones of the fatuous case against Madeleine’s parents … illustrates the power of misrepresentation as embodied in these edited videos.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Mr Grime and his dogs did what they were tasked to do; the rest was up to the investigators to prove or disprove what the dogs had shown an interest in as being of relevance or not to the case.
As a British police officer those were the rules he had operated under.

Martin Grime had nothing to do with the illicit editing of the record of the searches, of that I think we may be sure; someone with a particular agenda did that.

What matters is that:
- someone may hold a vital clue as to what happened to a missing child (in this case, Madeleine) and may not consider reporting it if he/she is convinced that the myths are true.

- a family desperately wants to know what happened to her.

- perpetuating myths / disinformation is an additional cross to bear, not only for adult family members and their friends but also for the children associated with the case.

And from those initial misundertandings or aspects of disinformation, selected leaks (many of which were garbled anyway), tabloid inaccuracies / inventions, came a certain "research group" that cherry-picks to present an even more garbled version of the little that is known. Not to mention a certain person who has spent thousands of hours "educating" the masses via videoclips of selected items that even she must know aren't correct.

I have never had a problem with anyone who had genuine questions or doubts. I do have an issue with people perpetuating myths / half-truths and inventions as troo facts.

The case in question concerns Madeleine, but it could be anyone, anywhere. And, one day, it might just be one of these people who are so keen to construct a case against the parents who may well find themselves with the boot on the other foot.

If the PJ had removed those elements I'd say the removal was very significant but as they didn't does it really warrant so much discussion ?

The only context that the removal does matter, and perhaps makes a difference, is with regard to the public's support of the McCanns but should that really be of concern when it will make not a bit of difference to the people that really matter in all this SY and the PJ ?

No.  Not really.  This is a very sensible observation.  But we wouldn't want to completely kill off discussion.

Oh, thank you for being logical.

The video footage of the dogs has been edited certainly for public consumption with bits having been cut out where the dogs have not been as helpful to investigators as they might have wanted.  The term 'doctoring' engenders all sorts of thoughts of conspiracies and is probably the wrong term to use.

I don't understand the underlined bit. How do you know that the PJ didn't "remove" elements?

In reality, working from rushes, the opposite would be true. You go through rushes (with the inevitable dangling camera pointing uselessely at the floor or capturing chitchat at some point) and decide what you want to include in the montage.

Either Levy had access to the rushes and proceeded to do the dog videos or the PJ did.

It makes far more sense to me that the PJ did and Levy just got hold of the edited versions and posted them.

Perhaps the wrong term to use.  But sad to say, some things were cut out.  Was this just one of those things?

"Doctoring" is right: fostering a false impression, if you will.

That's precisely what Levy (who had custody of those videos) is all about.

Remember the photographs?
