I'm due for renewing AVG and it's £25.00, I can't forget how much I paid for it last year.

That is a rather good piece of kit, great at stopping viruses which come down the internet.

Yes, I have the anti virus one also, but I was initially referring to the PC Tune Up software, which I believe is a different program.

If you use genuine Windows XP, Vista, or 7, you shouldn't need to buy anti-virus software..., just download Microsoft Security Essentials for free here...,

It's the only anti-virus software on my computer, works very well, and updates itself when necessary.

To remove malware, spyware and clean your machine, check out other programs..., Malwarebytes, Spybot Search & Destroy and Piriform CCleaner. The free versions are more than adequate and you don't get the annoying reminder-to-buy popups that you get with shareware too.

Your PC needs a 'rebuild' That is a reinstallation of your computers operating system. This becomes necessary when the registry is overloaded, disorganised and/or fragmented and becomes no longer tenable. The stability of the computer is therefore compromised. Once you have reinstalled, please dont keep defragging the registry with software such as 'Registry cleaner' or other similar software; they will clean your registry but it often leaves partlially deleted or corrupted files behind which after time can slow your PC to a crawl.

Thanks, Ian. I did reinstall windows 7, my machine came pre loaded with it so it was a doddle to do.

I have virgin media security, they use Trend Micro. I also have the Microsoft anti virus that somebody mentioned earlier. I didnt defrag my pc enough or do a disk clean as often as i should have, learnt my lesson now though!

Its working like a new machine at the moment, but saying that i only got it in December.

Make sure you have set your Internet Explorer or Firefox options settings to delete on exit otherwise it will store everything you download and lots more every day.

Andrea, you can install as many times as you like. But please remember to back up any files you keep on there otherwise they will be lost.
