Low tide?  Interesting and relevant.

Does SY have its reasons?  Probably and less relevant

(Please note I said that I once saw a yacht, aka a luxury vessel, moored off Luz.  Not at the time of the incident, just once.)
What's up, old man?

A paedophile who fled to Malta after being convicted of abusing two young girls has appeared in court following his extradition back to the UK.

Roderick Macdonald, 77, of Brighton, was flown to Gatwick on Saturday after his detention in Malta in October 2014.

He pleaded guilty, at Brighton Magistrates' Court, to three offences under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

In 2012, Macdonald received a suspended sentence under the name Robinson for abusing two girls, aged seven and five.

At the hearing on Monday, he admitted failing to notify foreign travel before leaving the UK, failing to notify change of name, and failing to notify change of address. The offences breached the terms of the court order, which placed him on the sex offenders register for life.

He was remanded in custody for sentencing at Lewes Crown Court on 20 November.

Sussex Police said Macdonald was given an 18-month jail sentence after admitting importing and possessing indecent images of children that were found on his computer at the time of his arrest in Malta.

And?

And?

It's a piece of news about someone SY were interested in at one time.
At least he's been locked up this time so there's one less abuser out there on the streets.

And it's related to MM how?

I would hazard a guess that the clue may lie in the thread title.

@Misty ... thanks for that update ... here's hoping he gets a custodial sentence this time ... prevention is better than cure and at least little girls will be safer if people know his exact whereabouts.
Horrible person.

The tabloids claimed SY were interested in him. There was never any proof they actually were.

He was never in the frame for Madeleine's disappearance but according to the article the police believed he may have been able to provide them with information about a paedophile ring operating in Portugal which may have had some bearing on sex attacks on the Algarve.  There's nothing to suggest the police did not approach him and question him about this, nor any reason why Operation Grange would divulge any information he may have shared with the court he was found guilty in, or with the media.

And there is absolutely nothing to suggest OG did approach and question him.

Considering the circumstances do you think it would have been wrong of Operation Grange to question him??

Officers from Scotland Yard flew to Malta to question Roderick MacDonald, 77, in his prison cell in a bid to uncover any vital clues about who snatched little Madeleine, aged three at the time.

MacDonald was questioned about his alleged connection to a child sex gang operating in Portugal, linked to her disappearance.
                                          .....     .....     .....     .....     .....

Scotland Yard said they would not give a “running commentary” on the investigation but their visit to MacDonald was confirmed by Maltese Government officials.

Seems a red top journalist actually went to the trouble and did a little research to confirm that Scotland Yard did indeed have an interest in what this man might know about the dark underbelly of paedophiles on the loose in the area from which Madeleine disappeared.

We have no idea what may or may not have been gleaned from contact with him ... but to suggest either that Scotland Yard did not or that they should not have bothered ... is in my opinion quite absurd.

It would depend on the lines of enquiry OG are pursuing.

The fact remains that we have no evidence he ever was questioned.
