It is very simple to prove Gerry was at the table when the alarm was raised.  The waiter said all the meals had been eaten apart from one which was the steak.  Meaning all had eaten their meals including Gerry.  Dianne also said in her statement that Kate said 'she's gone GERRY'.  Which means he was there when the alarm was raised.

What?s your view of Martin Smith?s claim (made 4 months after the incident and following almost daily news coverage of the case in the intervening months) that the man he saw might be Gerry McCann (a claim not backed up by 7 of the 8 people he was with  who also passed the man on the street)?   Does this strike you as strong evidence upon which to base a near 18 year belief that Gerry McCann carried his daughter?s dead body through town the night she went missing, bearing in mind this incident occurred at roughly the same time as Kate McCann raised the alarm?
I am in no position to answer that at this stage, Vertigo, I haven't studied the timings yet, i'm still going through the material that you and Faith posted for me a while back.
Some time in the future I may take a side, meantime, I have no idea what happened to Maddie.

May I ask what time was the alarm raised, and what time was the Smith sighting?

Gerry WAS at the table when the alarm was raised. The question is WHEN was the alarm raised and there is no concrete answer.

Have you not been following the recent discussion in which I demonstrated why the alarm could not have been raised at 10.15pm as Faith believes?

It certainly wasn?t raised at 10.15pm as I have proven.  You need to come up with a new time and we can examine the plausibility of that theory.

She also stated that the alarm was raised at 10pm.  Now, people believe that the Tapas 7 colluded that night to all get their story straight about the timeline, and all apparently agreed on 10pm as the time the alarm was raised, presumably to ensure that Gerry had an alibi for the time he was supposed to have been seen by the Smiths.  Which begs the question, why did the person who needed the alibi then claim the alarm was raised at 10.15pm?
Obviously, there was no plot, no collusion or attempt to deceive, but sceptics still can?t grasp this fact.

That?s the second time you?ve asked that question recently, I?m fairly certain.

OK, Kate raised the alarm at 10.00 and the Smith sighting was also at 10.00 but 500yards from the apartment?
Hence, if we presume that 500 yrds takes roughly ten minutes to walk, that means if the smiths 'did' see Maddie, then she was abducted around 9.50.
Is that correct, Vertigo?

10pm alarm isn't supported by many witnesses. Most say 'around 10pm' though some say as early as 9.30. PDL is so small that 5 minutes either way could be the difference between Gerry being the man seen by the Smith family or not. Let us not forget that Martin Smith's wife agreed with him although she declined to give a second statement but unless you think that Martin Smith had a reason to lie then his claim should be taken at face value.

Also, if what I have written about the Smithman sighting over the last few days was absurd or illogical then why has no one yet pointed out the problems with my logic?  Instead the two members here arguing hard in favour of Gerry being Smithman (both with differing opinions about what time the alarm was raised) have both decided they no longer wish to engage with me, having completely failed to defend their position with anything approaching a logical argument.  What does that tell you?

It tells you I really can't be bothered to do this anymore. I'm sick & tired of the McCanns & have nothing but contempt for them and anyone who believes Madeleine was abducted. It's been nearly 20 years & there's still no evidence Madeleine was extracted from the apartment by a stranger. The closest thing to abduction evidence is the Smiths sighting. Hence no one will ever be charged or tried in this case & it will remain a constant annoyance until the McCanns kick the bucket.

So is it generally accepted that the Smith sighting was at 10.00 then, Faith?

There you go talking about lying again.  No one is accusing him of lying but it did take 4 months for him to think it might be Gerry.  Why do you give his statement so much credibility?  You certainly wouldn?t to such a witness statement in the other case you?re devoted to!
Around 10pm is supported by the majority of the witnesses.  It is also the logical time for Kate to have left the table if the group were doing half hourly checks.  At 9.58 or shortly thereafter a witness was passing the apartment and all was quiet, supporting the theory that Kate had not yet raised thr alarm.  Nannies and other staff gave statements that they discovered around 10.15pm that Madeleine had gone missing.  It all adds up to the check happening around 10pm and the alarm being raised a few minutes later.
