So UK police somewhere along the line didn't pass her first statement on? It would be interesting to know why.

Hmmm ... we know for certain it wasn't?
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

We don't even know for certain a statement was taken, do we? If it was there are several possibilities;

Bolton police didn't pass it to LP.
LP got it but didn't pass it to the PJ
The PJ got it and didn't file it.
The PJ got it and filed it, but it was held back because it was a Crimestoppers contact.

Indeed.
It would have been worth bearing those options in mind before leaping to conclusions as you did when you said "So UK police somewhere along the line didn't pass her first statement on? It would be interesting to know why."

It seems miss hall like so many others went to the papers (for their own reasons)  instead of the police at the time

Disgusting type of people

It seems pj got wind and got a statement eventually

Margaret Hall's witness statement became known to the press only as a result of Madeleine's case being archived and the files put out on general release by Levy in contravention of Portuguese law.

Her information only came to light after Portuguese officers released all their files relating to Maddy earlier this month.  http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/madeleine-mccann-nannys-new-sketch-329189

Were Levy's translated files on the internet 16 days after they were released? Or did the paper get the files, have them translated and combed through within that timescale? Even if they did, as far as I can see there's no personal details in the files for this person.

Sorry, I'm more inclined to think the newspaper was given this story than that it found it all by itself.

Cutting out the sensationalist crap, she probably did notice some guy near the apartment and thought it might be relevant.

Yeah! and as I observed earlier according the story some geezer who knew how to get into and lurk in position without tripping the PIR. Now how do you suppose that happened? Random chance? piss poor siting of the PIR in that case or..........?  your starter for ten.

Is there mention anywhere in the files of a PIR ?

She very sensibly heeded legal advice not to.

GA seems a bit naughty in this next quote where he appears to explain her rights but also presumes her guilt.  Whereas there is the necessity to presume innocence till proven guilty.

Quote
She states her name and gives her address as her home in Great Britain. Taking advantage of the right accorded to her by her status, she remains silent and does not answer questions concerning the circumstances of her daughter's death, on May 3rd 2007, in the Ocean Club apartment.
