Purely as a matter of interest I would mention that Heri quoted the following regarding the no. of files open to the public,
Quote
- The original Polícia Judiciária Files published in Internet. The main file contains approximately 4,700 pages, and there are some 6,500 pages of published appendices and interviews conducted in England ("cartas rogatorias"). I gave the most importance to pages 1 to 1709 of the main files, which referred to the first month (May 3rd. to June 6th. 2007).
Unquote
IIRC According to other sources over 40,000 documents were in the possession of SY when they began their investigations.
That would imply a massive difference between what the public have sight of compared to what SY have. If so then surely the public must be at a huge disadvantage to SY when it comes to 'evidence' to explore.
Although we have always known that the public only have some of the files to study whilst SY have all of the available files, I sometimes wonder whether this fact (if it is a fact) is ignored or forgotten about.
Just because we can't find something in the files, it doesn't mean SY are in the same situation.
I may have misunderstood Heri - so am happy to be corrected if necessary.
It's clear that Kate did have files that the rest of us have no access to - as she refers to the information from the parents of UK children sexually assaulted in their beds by an intruder whilst on holiday in PT. We are not privy to those statements.
IMO
The PJ released around 5,000 documents, but they kept back, at the request of the British police, an unknown amount relating, among other subjects, to sexual offenders and Crimestoppers callers.
The Rogatory interviews brought the total to 11,000.
Leicester Police also had over 11,000 pieces of information. Then there was information from PI's, they seemed to take a lot from Metodo 3, for example.
I think it would be fairly easy to get to 40,000.
Kate McCann says;
I had a task of Herculean proportions facing me: combing through the 5,000 or so pages of documentation
contained in the case files that had been presented to the prosecutor and received by our lawyers on 31 July.
[Madeleine]
That would suggest they received the main files and not much else.
It's not completely clear where the information about UK children originated. Kate does say;
We are extremely grateful, however, to their parents for having the courage and compassion to share their experiences with us to try to help us find our daughter [Madeleine]
Could they have been in the 81 pieces of information they got from LP in 2008?
So they might never have come to light if the parents of these children hadn’t been brave enough to come forward to the British police after Madeleine was taken [Madeleine]
